#CursedEtymologies: This makes sense, I promise! The Meadow Mari (a Finno-Ugric language of the Volga region) word pareηge 'potato' at first sight seems odd ... and at second sight seems etymologically connected to France, and the Ferengi – an alien race from Star Trek. How come? (1/3)
A circular arrangement of: a potato, three Ferengi (aliens from Star Trek), Paris (showing the Eiffel Tower and the Seine), with lines connecting the three and an equal sign = in a circle over each line.
