i don't know if it ultimately made a difference but i changed my cover letters to be explicit about the type of culture i was looking for, based on my current professional goals. it shifted rejections for me to 'well, the didn't have the infrastructure to support me. cool.'

"I build systems for organizations ready to catalyze change, not maintain status quo. I'm seeking roles where operational transformation enables programmatic ambition — where the challenge isn't "keep things running" but "what becomes possible with the right infrastructure?" If that's not this moment for you, I respect that. But if it is, I'd welcome the conversation.

with appreciation,"

at the vintage fest and ran into a young Black man selling T-shirts as historical ephemera. chopped it up with him about co-creating with a historian. good luck!

A pink t-shirt for the Cincinnati music festival in 2018 featuring artists like Fantasia, DJ, jazzy, Jeff and the O'Jays

Hey Martin Luther King t-shirt, a Malcolm X t-shirt and a million woman March t-shirt that took place in 1997 in Philadelphia

i sent a nice formal request for a fraud investigation on some old health insurance and got an automated message back so then i got pissed and sent this as the reply (damnit i didn't use the interrobang! i need to make a keyboard shortcut)

"there is no claim to even be filed because it was not me who went to the doctor. do not give me some automated answer, I am telling you plainly that this claim is fraudulent and i am not going to be held financially responsible for it. research the claim, look for the identifying information and signature the person and reject it part and parcel. only a thief would present information for canceled insurance because they wouldn't know it was canceled. a person who knows the insurance is inactive would never present it for payment because who wants to pay in full!"

I'm sorry but this is the most offensive section of a job posting I've ever seen in my life.

A screenshot from a job I found on LinkedIn that states" this role includes a personal fundraising requirement. the coo fundraises 10% of their salary during year two of the position 15% during year 3 and 20% by year. 4. this requirement may be waived for a candidate who brings exceptional experience fit and value to the role
