Yes! I'd even go for just a tulle skirt picking up either the blue or the pink to contrast the construction of the waistcoat with the softness of the tulle. Either way I really want this waistcoat...

I last read this book when it came out and I still think about it periodically. I have an excerpt on my blog if you're curious: inquisitivenewt.com/2025/06/16/c... I can't recommend it enough. @sflayzell.northsky.social wrote an absolute classic <3

Absolutely fantastic book, so much so that we're using it as a featured book for our education studies students at the Open University.

That's how it works. I once got out of a jacuzzi at a spa day and had to beg some paper and a pen from the receptionist whilst wrapped in a towel because that was the moment my brain decided to start giving me all the good stuff.

I generally agree but also am disappointed by Jonathan Anderson at Dior so far, so I guess I am the target audience for those articles.

Amazing poem, thanks so much for sharing! I'm doing a lot of work with students on linguistic rights and education policy in the UK nations at the moment so this one really speaks to me.

I absolutely love the colour story in this. It could so easily look too literal or too craftsy, but the soft blues and pinks turn it into a dreamy joy.

Wow I love this and want it so much. I work from home so would get loads of use out of it too, that's a reasonable justification, right?

Beautiful! We were very lucky and saw both the eclipse and masses of shooting stars from the meteor shower, that jacket really captures some of the magic!

Had an amazing time watching the eclipse today from Gwennap Head, rather better than in 1999! Context photos by me, close ups of the eclipse by @piranlbb.bsky.social

Though there was also the time a consultant told me I should take ill-health retirement at the age of 27 and 'live on love'. Never been sure whether it meant I should a) get married b) become a sex worker c) find a way to miraculously metabolise love from the atmosphere in lieu of buying food

When I was severely ill as a child because my appendix had burst, a doctor told my mother that there was absolutely nothing wrong with me, and that 'this sort of behaviour is very common in middle-class girls of a certain disposition'.

I'm afraid I loved the book just too much to watch the film, I knew from experience it would change how I read the book forever. Only book I've ever taken that stand on because I'm generally interested in adaptations, but it is one of very few perfect books for me so I don't want to take the risk!

Amnesty International put out a major report documenting the influence of UK based anti trans gender critical organizations and their funding. Within hours, GC groups threatened defamation lawsuits and Amnesty was forced to pull it down. Proving the point they're anti rights. Anyways, here it is.

And would be so much better without all the pseudo-philisophical digressions into the 'laws of history'. The story is great, there are some moments of genuinely brilliant snark, but good lord that book needed an editor.

Congratulations, and so well deserved. These are books I reread so often, it's wonderful to know so many more people will get the joy, and the heartache (inevitable when they truly mean so much), of reading them.

Okay that one I might have to try to recreate. Just stunning!

The book is excellent. I'd highly recommend getting a hard copy of the illustrated version though, as they also released a non-illustrated version and it's not nearly as good.

Charles and Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh. A huge amount of their work was collaborative, but her name frequently gets left out of the credit, even though he outright stated on numerous occasions that she was far more talented and innovative than he was.

I love the bodice, but the skirt feels too heavy for it. I like the colour combo but the velvet is giving me vibes of an over-protective parent saying 'you can't go out like that!' and wrapping them in a curtain 😆
