Finished my third or fourth playthrough of Monster Hunter: World recently. Have only played it solo before, but this time I played it co-op with my girlfriend, which was a lot of fun! Even if the main story is a little bit clunky in co-op.

Hard to narrow it down to just nine games! Final Fantasy VII should maybe be there too. Maybe Destiny 1. And I kinda feel like Demon's Souls should be here, but I haven't actually played it myself yet. And I'm sure I've forgotten something that's really important to me.

On my hundreth or something playthrough of Elden Ring (first on Steam Deck), playing without HUD or color, for variety's sake. As beautiful as this game is in color, I also really like how it looks in monochrome! ☺️ (On SteamOS: Settings, Accessibility, Color Filter, Grayscale.)

Been thinking more about this (yes, I'm slow 😅). I think why I like it so much is because I struggle with task switching. Much like infinitely scrolling social media, a game that just keeps going with no forced breaks, can have me playing for longer than I intend to.

Why did "press a button to heal" become such a common mechanic in action games? The Zelda and Devil May Cry games I grew up with didn't need that. It makes more sense in RPGs, but I don't think I like it in any game tbh. *Maybe* Dark Souls 1, for what it does to exploration, but not for combat.

Tried making one-pot penne alla vodka today, and it was pretty good! But I'm not convinced the vodka actually contributes a whole lot. Might be fun to set up a test for that, but it also seems like a lot of work, and I'm too old and tired for that.

Today's lunch: made some vegan tofu skagenröra to go with these storebought frozen potato-thingies (they call them rösti, but I'm not sure I agree). Served with a scallion, carrots and spinach sallad. And there's enogh for lunch tomorrow too! Nice!

Whelp, that was scary... I just got attacked by a bird. A gull started diving towards me out of nowhere, just barely missing me. It kept going back and forth, diving at me a half dozen times or so, before striking me on the upper back. No idea what this bird had against me. 😧
