Jonn, are you aware of the Safety Wee? That's when you go right before the doors open because as soon as you have customers you won't get a chance.

Even better, it's skooshy cream in Scotland.

I am here with a dog tax. This was my dog, driving the bus. She was the best girl and an excellent driver.

I've just realised the best thing about WFH. I can put stuff in the air fryer BEFORE my lunch so it's ready when I clock off for my break. Genius. (I usually cook properly but it's just me today so freezer fun it is)

I'm Scottish, it just reminds me of rain.

See, if only they had a gym buddy and they could actually USE BOTH FUCKING MACHINES.

I can concur that I am at the boiling stage and even my partner thinks I'm weird. Why is it so sodding hot? I am taking my jammies off while he is under a blanket asking about heating.

I'm afraid I can't do hot tuna, but if I can recommend a sandwich option it would be similar. Tuna, black olives, filthy amounts of capers, lemon juice, s & p, olive oil. Very finely diced red onion essential. Tomato or cucumber optional. It will also take a melted cheese if required.

I put the fan on again last night. I'm sorry but I cannot in this heat at this age. I need the heavy of the weighted blanket but due to the bloody hormones I also need the fan. It. Is. Fucking. October.

You might find that something like "participant" or "respondent" actually flows better despite not having quite the same exact meaning. Questioner is a valid word but feels very... Precise? (Of course, you are German so that's probably exactly what you want 🤭)

It's often cheaper having a second driver because theoretically it spreads the risk. Such a dark art though.

Exactly what Katherine said.

I'm going for the double jag, absolutely but I'll make sure I have no plans the following day just in case. Paracetamol does a huge amount of lifting with the aches and fevers but not worth having a crappy trip

I'll be honest - don't do it before going away. I've only once had a bad reaction but that reaction was mini flu. Only lasted 24 hours but those were tough hours.

The covid has cleared but the ENT irritation is ongoing. Everything tastes of metal and I'd like to drill through my ears. On the plus side, I've been invited for the double vaccine this time round so I'll be getting that as soon as I can.

Wasn't that J B Priestly....? Perhaps she was cast out due to her downfall thanks to a handsome footman who promised he would marry her. The poor orphaned child was brought up by a caring old couple in the countryside but has plotted for years to get her revenge. Now she takes shorthand.

Mine loves a spider. But only to hunt and kill. Once they are dispatched they are left on the floor to be disposed of by the person terrified of them.

Is it hiding in plain sight in their valise? Or perhaps disguised as a piece of ostentatious costume jewellery that they never take off? And did someone know that waiter from something unpleasant years ago?

Americans. Cornwall. Poirot. I've read this one.... Someone is going to have a ghastly heart attack at the poker table. Or perhaps be found at the foot of the tower after a storm.

Is "permanently clammy" a peri symptom? I'm just always too warm. I cannot wait for winter so I can freeze at night. I've always run a tad warm but this is stupid. I've lived in vests and big scarves since my late 20's. How can I wear even less now?

I've just reached the point in life where I'm walking around in a vest saying 'gosh, it's warm, isn't it?' while everyone else looks at me in concern. Bring on the cold!!

Or just cuddle it. Proper fur is such a secret pleasure. It is wrong, clearly but by god is it soft and cozy. And if the cost of heating goes up much further you may need it!

Could it be repurposed? Have the body re-lined to use as a throw and make bolsters from the arms?

Good to know.

We're very undecided at the moment. Heat pump v solar v both.... It is a problem for another year though!

Yep. Our next delivery is going to be around that. It's excruciating.

I've had my invites but can't book till I'm clear from Covid :(

Perfect! Picked that up for now.

JP @jenpot.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Hmmmm, I'll probably roast first then for that extra flavour (that I won't even taste) and freeze the mush. No idea what I'm cooking yet but will find a way whatever it is.

JP @jenpot.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
The heating is on. Not because it's cold, to kick start the hot water and make sure the radiators are working before we need them to. The actual heating won't be on for weeks yet. It's amazing how resourceful you become once you're on oil and can see it dropping by the hour.

JP @jenpot.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
I've got an absolute GLUT of late toms. As someone who hates cooked ones, can I roast then freeze to serve later (to other people clearly!) or should I just blitz into a sauce and freeze that. I'm catering next month at the village do so they need to be frozen either way.

Snacquisition...? I'll see myself out.

Now that sounds more like it. There will be a bar, yes? *Takes notes*
110
JP @jenpot.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
But can we do it in the early afternoon? I'll need to be in bed by 6 from the exertion. AND I'll put my back out if I'm not careful.

At this time of the year it's just as likely they are going for domestic oil as most people will be topping up for winter.

I am definitely more at the Hamish end of the scale.

I've been quarantining so my partner and cat don't catch this. Came down for something to eat and the cat LOVES me. Lasted two minutes of course but it was nice to be wanted for a moment. Back to bed now with #therestishistory podcast to get me through the night.

JP @jenpot.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
Oh god that's exactly what I want right now. A spicy, sour broth would be amazing.
000
JP @jenpot.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
You actually need fresh eggs. That's often the problem because supermarket eggs can be weeks old. Water on the brink of boiling. Big glug of white wine vinegar, swirl the water. Crack the egg into the centre. But if your eggs are not fresh nothing will really fix it. That, and practice sadly.

Already taken myself to bed. My partner made me a hot lemon squash but it tasted spicy so I've got it bad. Cocodamol and a podcast I think. Thank god I WFH so I can at least still work, I've had so much time off recently due to the bereavement in the family.

JP @jenpot.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
Eugh. I have COVID. WFH means I've not been ill for months but someone at the funeral must have had it. I feel dreadful. It's come on exactly the same as the first time I had it. Sore throat niggling for a day then suddenly everything aches- even my hair. Bed calls.

Logged into the work chat as part of my return to work set up for tomorrow. Message from bestest colleague begging me to come back so she can bitch at someone. I am *really* good at being the teams light relief and general cheerleader. Plus I make them all feel young. They are young.

Yes. But as women we get an epic baked in excuse for being stupider and far too hot all the time. Ask me how I know 🙄😬

Went for lunch with an old-friend today. Put the world to rights for 4 hours and yet barely scratched the surface. What would we be without our people?

I am fine for two nights alone. Any more than that and I go feral and wish my partner was home. I love the idea of being home alone. I hate the reality. The cat helps but I can't cook for her.
