Together, these studies highlight the potential of spatial mechanomics to move beyond mapping where cells and molecules are, toward understanding the physical microenvironments in which those molecular states occur. 5/7

We’re especially excited to release this alongside complementary work from Alba Diz-Muñoz' lab @embl.org, using AFM-based mechanical mapping in tumors. 🔗https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.64898/2026.08.29.747727v1 4/7

This allowed us to identify molecular programs associated with local tissue stiffness and ask how these relationships change with age. More broadly, we hope this approach helps add a mechanical dimension to spatial biology and the local environments cells experience. 3/7

Using the aging mouse ovary, we co-registered tissue stiffness with 10x Visium HD data from the immediately adjacent tissue plane, generating 2,915 spatially matched stiffness-transcriptome measurements across 21 regions. 2/7

Excited to share our lab's new preprint led by @huanting-ong.bsky.social on paired-surface spatial mechanomics! We link nanoindentation maps with #SpatialTranscriptomics to connect local tissue mechanics with molecular state. 🔗https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.64898/2026.08.29.748050v1 🧵1/7
