The Worst. I cannot get oral meds into my bitchy sausage. I have tried tablets, microtabs, suspensions, ground into powder, in pill pockets, with treats, with meal toppers, with Churu, stirred into gravy, in fancy & sketchy wet foods, in chunk tuna, swaddled, & with a pill syringe. THEY JUST KNOW.

The loneliest sound in the world is not, in fact, a far-off train whistle sounding in the dark. It is the wail of betrayal that comes out of the crate when I box up April Ludgate Karate Dwyer in order to bring her to the vet.

A petite brown tabby cat sits on the carpet-covered base of a sisal scratching post. She has squeezed herself onto an infinitesimal amount of space on the tiny square base, perched primly upright, to take advantage of the last morning sunbeam. Her fangy little mouth is wide open, one eye is squeezed shut for dramatic emphasis, and she is yelling at the top of her lungs because I am not trying hard enough to make the sunlight stay in one place for the rest of time. Her name is April Ludgate Karate Dwyer.
