With Bute having made the shortlist for the UK’s first town of Culture 2028 it is important to ensure the significant cultural offer and heritage of the island are highlighted at every opportunity.

Restrictive immigration policies are causing Argyll and Bute to lose valuable members of our communities and are seriously impacting our economy. If the UK Government won’t act to resolve this, they should devolve the powers to the Scottish Parliament.

It was a real honour to be able to present Margaret Lacey with her lifetime membership of the SNP on behalf of the Dunoon branch on Friday. With 70 years as an SNP member working to regain Scotland’s independence Margaret has been a true trailblazer 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Our climate is changing and incidents of extreme weather are becoming far more frequent. In recent years we’ve felt the consequences of extreme levels of rainfall here in Argyll and Bute and so we need to do all we can to minimise the risks of flooding.

The SNP will always be on the side of Scotland’s young people - opportunity should not be restricted to those with the ability to pay and that’s why Scotland remains the only part of the UK where students don’t need to pay to study at university and bus travel is free for under-22s.
