Folktale Week Day 2: INK Micki wanted someone to play with. But there was no chance of that on the little island. Her only hope was to find a penpal on the mainland. So she poured her heart into a bottle and begged the sea to take it to the nearest, nicest girl. @folktaleweek.bsky.social

Folktale Week: Lost Life on the island was nice enough. Micki spent her days digging clams, exploring tide pools, and putting out kibble for the barn cats. On Sundays, she went hiking with Grandpa and they ate berries straight off the vine. But something was missing. @folktaleweek.bsky.social

I'm the featured illustrator on the brand new Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators website this month! The new site looks great, and they've done a lot to surface member art! www.scbwi.org If you're a member and kidlit illustrator, make sure you apply to be featured!

They're kind of buried. Tap the home icon on the bottom left and then your profile icon on the top left. If you have any, they'll be in the side bar under your followers like so:

Yesterday I went sketching with actual people in the actual outdoors. Always nice to get together with artist friends and practice some observation!

In addition to kidlit art and illustration, I also make ceramics. I love having a non-work outlet for my creativity

Last week, That's Betty! written by Gregory Bonsignore and illustrated by yours truly, was added to a list of restricted books in Florida. Why was it banned? Because the main character has two dads. That's it. Just that.

Hello Bluesky! I'm an illustrator. I mostly draw picture books and middle grade kidlit, plus some editorial, and greeting cards. Here's a piece that was just chosen for American Illustration 42.
