If you see this, we IMPLORE you to post a picture from whatever device you’re using without explanation.

An Elf on the Shelf is scooping ice cream from a container while another Elf on the Shelf is sitting beside the ice cream container with a spoon on its lap. A note in front of them says “Why does the ice cream taste different?” Beside them is a book entitled “Butcher & Blackbird” by Brynne Weaver.

A red flower was hidden under my stapler on my desk at work today. Having just started to read some dark romance books, my head went in a very specific direction which is guaranteed to be wrong about this.

A red flower sits pressed on a black desk.

I watch Star Trek for the plot

Listening to the audiobook of Careless People by Sarah Wynn-Williams right now. It is so good! I’m not surprised that Zuckerberg doesn’t want people to read the book.

Screen capture of the audiobook cover for Careless People by Sarah Wynn-Williams. The subtitle of the book is “A Cautionary Tale of Power, Greed, and Lost Idealism.” The cover art has a drawing of a blue square with rounded edges reminiscent of a phone app icon. The top left of the blue square has a drawing of a shark fin. The bottom right of the blue square has the words “A Memoir” written in white letters.

Here is this year’s animal/fruit mashup in their summer market. Turtle watermelon in 2 sizes, Porcupineapples, Kiwalas, & Lioranges.

My Ducknana was the closest thing when I saw the post.

I’m quite excited that the sock knitting is going so well this time around. There are so many cute sock patterns that I’d love to be able to make. There would definitely be some Klingon socks in my future! (Star Trek Socks pattern by Laura Hohman on Ravelry).

Two knit socks. The left is black with a Klingon Empire symbol on the side in red with red dots across the top of the foot and red stripes along the sole. The right is black with a Starfleet Delta symbol on the side in yellow with yellow dots across the top of the foot and red stripes along the sole.

Getting the drawers in my newly hung plastic drawer unit filled. Had an extra measuring tape so gave it a drawer. Then I found another. And yet another. And then 2 more. So if anyone needs to measure anything, let me know!

A plastic drawer storage unit hanging on a wall. Some of the drawers have labels on them and many of the drawers have contents that can be seen through the plastic drawer fronts.

A small plastic drawer with 4 measuring tapes inside and one messily laying across the drawer.

This is the load of towels from the office that my coworker used to mop up the floor of the flooded toilet. I think she must have dumped soap on them because I’ve never had this much foam in my washing machine ever. Also, this is half of what it was 30 minutes ago.

A front-load washing machine filled half way with suds.

A quote to ponder for Jan 22, 2025.

I just went to look at what books I read in 2024 & love the mood graph that storygraph provides.

A graph where the vertical axis represents mood and the months of the year are on the horizontal axis. Text at the top says “Your 2024 storygraph - a mood map of your reading, lighter books push the line up and darker books push the line down”. The line on this graph starts near the top, trends mostly downward with a plateau or small turn upward along the way.

Surprise Project reveal: crocheted Ducknana! I bought the statue a while back & one of my kids asked for another for Christmas. At first I explained it was a seasonal, limited item. Then it occurred to me to see if I could find a crochet pattern. Sure enough, I found “Banana Duck” by Lena’s Hobby.

A small statue of a duck head coming out of a peeled banana bottom next to a slightly larger crocheted version of the Banana Duck.
