Anyway, I've been applying for senior and staff product design roles over the past 7 months and my "conversion rate" on cold apply was 25% in Apr and dropped to 10% now. But my numbers aren't big enough to mean anything; not playing a numbers game.

There's been a change lately where most of the auto rejections say "everyone's so talented and we can't look at them all and maybe we found someone who's a super specific match before we got to you" (paraphrased) Which is fine I guess, seems true.

Another one is "we just don't see a fit." I've been selective at applying where I have most if not all the qualifications, and adjust resume points/language. The last job I applied for was almost an exact match of my prev role, but "not a fit." Obv it's a form letter, but feels gaslight-y.

I put an old cover letter through an AI detector (notoriously inaccurate) and it said 100% AI. FML Obviously, there could be so many other reasons. But with LLM use as a scapegoat, no reason needed.

It's for my art. WordPress seems too heavy. I've also used Svelte Sapper (sveltekit now), and Eleventy on my personal sites currently. Or, maybe I don’t need any yet! But it might be nice to learn something new.

Oh, it's also keyboard navigable (video shows some tabbing) but I did something hacky to keep focus from going inside the closed panels. Might clean it up and post the source later.

Not sure what to do with it, but I discovered `interpolate-size: allow-keywords;` which makes the transition work for items of unknown height. It's not available in every major browser yet. I've done it with some vanilla JS before, and the Angular animations API made it easy.

I made this little code prototype to test the technical feasibility of an idea I mocked up in Figma a while ago. The concept was to have a responsive overview show the top items and use "contextual zoom" for more detail. Neat that it's CSS-only, smoother and took less time than Figma.
