the disturbing thing was, when i turnwd around he had this smile on his face that was both smug & creepy. like he was inappropriately touching me on purpose w/ how close he was, then got pissed when i asked him to give space. i am also almost 100% sure he then was filming me as he walked behind me.

this is the starting point where women learn at a young age to not speak up, not set boundaries, think the behavour is our fault, and then often times grow up to blame women who are treated the same way. 😔

i felt incredibly unsafe. in a crowd of people, in the middle of the afternoon. & all i could think about was his daughter, absorbing all of this, repeating it back to him. not only is he a perfect example of why we choose the bear, he's teaching his child to internalize that mysogenistic hate -

he goes off. highly aggresive, moves closer, calls me names, threatens me, calls me a bitch, tells his daughter i'm this name and that name. i try to remove myself, he keeps going w/ the intimidation & threats. boarding begins, he follows me & is continuing his tirade, all the way to seating.

so at this point i am feeling exceptionally crowded, very uncomfortable, & anxious. i politely turn around, say hi, & say - i'm feeling a bit crowded, there is no one behind you, would you mind taking a step back please? in that nice voice women use to not upset men we get thay spidey sense about.

noone is behind me line. a man w/ his young daughter stand behind me. closer than need be. the foreshadowing of this was the way he was speaking to his daughter about her mom. he keeps inching closer, as in i can feel his physical body bumping into mine. i take a step forward. he steps forward.

i was coming home from the city this afternoon, in the waiting area of the ferry. there are no really lines, more of an open queue that people line up in rows for the turnstyles. it can get super busy & crowded during tourist season, which is why i chose a sailing that i knew is not as crowded.
