At the airport this morning to head to Houston, Texas to present at the @seidlitzed.bsky.social "What's Working with English Learners" conference tomorrow. I'm excited to share for a 2nd year of what's working in my ELD classroom and with my multilingual students.

Every year, I pick one word to focus on. Last year was embrace, and that is what I did. I embraced opportunities to grow.In 2025, my word is Cultivate. I want to cultivate the good things in my life and weed out the things that hinder them–fostering growth. #PD4uAndMe

This morning my ELD 1st graders and Newcomer went on a walk around the school to find different signs. We are learning about signs and symbols. They were great detectives and added the signs we found in their notebooks. #ELsky

Ever since Covid to increase engagement with my ELD groups I've incorporated Game Day. Every 2 weeks on a Friday they can earn game day. The games are learning games, Kahoot, Blooket or any other type of learning game. In order to earn it they must be focused and put forth effort.
