So, to recap: we say Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit as the first thing out of our mouths any time after midnight on October 1 for good luck all month. And we are reminded that sometimes our rabbits help someone else, across the globe and we hope someday that their rabbits will help us.

Here's what I do, I wake up almost every single night, around 2 am, and I say my rabbits then. I go back to sleep. Then when I wake up for real around 6:30, I say them again, but a little louder.

I found my I VOTED sticker--it was still in the car.

Prince William County's I voted sticker for this year--it features the Marine Corp Museum memorial, A tree of some note (?) the year 1731 which maybe is the year the county was founded and a stylized cannon which considering the year is from the American Revolution, NOT the Civil War.

Fatniss and I voted. In Virginia, for my district, we have Senate, Congress, and 3 amendments. We voted for @markwarner.bsky.social and @repsuhas.bsky.social and yes on all three amendments.

A ballot for the Commonwealth of Virginia, in English and in Spanish, for Amendment 2, which is codifying Marriage Equality into the constitution. Amendment 1 codifies the right to abortion and Amendment 3 codifies the right for felons to vote after they have served their time. Right now all these things are legal under state law but they need to be codified into the constitution in order for the next shitty administration to not just legislate them out. Can they remove items from the constitution? Yes, but it is a long process. This is the last step of this long process.

Of course we voted yes on all three and voted for Mark Warner who better get a lot more combative in the Senate, and Suhas Subramanyam who is a pretty good guy and doesn't take much shit but as always, could be more of an asshole in my opinion.

Then we went to Costco and wished everyone who voted R in the last 45 years ate tainted lettuce.

Also related to dog stuff--I have had Rufus insured by Embrace for the last few years because I know what kinds of things Goldens can get and I didn't want Kent to treat him for something $$$ and not charge us, which was his way, we kept it after Kent died. I brought a freeze dried chicken treat home for Waffles but someone whose name rhymes with ShoeFerry ate it right out of the pocket of my bag. And doesn't even feel bad about it.

Today is Spoil Your Dog Day. How we will celebrate: another $300 trip to the vet for Rufus's ear check (he has this mild, but tough to treat ear infection--which I think is a Golden thing--what do you Golden people do about those ears?) It doesn't bother him but the vet does cytology every visit.
