I need to read Fritz Eichenberg’s pre-1940 correspondence related to his illustrations of Gulliver’s Travels. Yale has his papers but the correspondence is later. Columbia holds Eichenberg’s publisher’s papers but not the period I need. Turns out what I’m looking for is at the Harry Ransom Center.

An illustration of Gulliver’s Travels by Fritz Eichenberg. It depicts Gulliver bound by the Lilliputians, some of whom are standing on top of him.

We’ve had a great few days. Lucius on Thursday and Nina West on Saturday. Both were amazing, moving performances.

2025 in review: favorite BL series I had two favs this year: Khemjira and Shine. I like it when shows move the genre into new territory. Khemjira takes #ThaiBL folklore & horror to a new level. And Shine moves us squarely into M/M drama and ups the politics of #NotMe Both are great! #BLSeries

One of the marvelous things about rewatching #UntilWeMeetAgain is that #StudioWabiSabi isn’t afraid to let its actors sweat. All through Ep 12 Ohm is sweating like he actually lives in Thailand!

Dorothy L. Sayers’ “Have His Carcase” has this lovely description of Peter’s age: “the halcyon period between the self-tormenting exuberance of youth and the fretful carpe diem of approaching senility.” Like Peter, I intend to “extract an Epicurean enjoyment” from this phase of life.

My time in the UK was productive: 32 #manuscript miscellanies, commonplace books, & unbound collections at the #BritishLibrary, the V&A, the U of Nottingham, the U of Leeds, & #HolkhamHall. I hope to be back in a year to see 2 I couldn’t see and 2 I want to spend more time with.

I always find it jarring in a #ThaiBL when back to back scenes transition from afternoon to night with no explanation. It’s broad daylight, but it’s about to rain so let’s walk across the field to a bus stop but it’s nighttime when we get there?! 🤷‍♂️
