We held my partner’s Celebration of Life, yesterday. It was his birthday, we played music he sang, and I read fun poems he wrote. People showed up, they helped, they spoke. Some said it was “the most beautiful” they’ve been to. I ended quoting Red, “I guess I just miss my friend”.

I’ve had waist-length, very dark hair, since 1968. Ted helped me keep it dark in later years, but it just went grey over the last year. So this is the first time in 58 years that I haven’t hidden behind my cape. (The lovely, Ukrainian hairdresser added a bit of curl, just for fun.)

A friend is treating me to have my hair and nails done. Another friend asked if there is any significance to that. I responded, “Well, usually a divorce as I’ve never had my nails and hair done unless I’m about to get married.” 🤷🏻‍♀️

I was in the grocery store and noticed an older woman, ahead of me. She seemed tired or worn and her grocery items were simply bananas, yogurt, and meal-replacement drinks. I hope she didn’t hear me sharply inhale as I recognized the situation, thinking, “She is or has just become a widow.” 💔

My cats have decided to keep me company by curling up on the bed, once I’m in. Leo lies quietly at my feet. Beamer, though, thinks it’s a great place to bring her toys, often chattering to them, or chasing them across the bed (an on me). Here, she finally wore herself out for a good snooze.

On a blizzardy Valentine’s weekend, a starling and a blue jay landed near a hanging seed cake. They pecked at the cake, but the starling couldn’t get any of the frozen seeds. Then the blue jay hopped over, successfully broke into the cake, and fed the starling. I was astounded.

The wind’s a-roaring, tonight, & according to Windy, with gusts of 110km/hr. It was exactly 2 years ago that a similar storm caused a huge pine tree to crush my car (fortunately parked and empty & the tree just brushed a gutter on the house). Oh, man! 😳

I guess I’m notso good at clearing out old stuff, but took a stab at it, today. I found a favourite wallet I’ve been missing. There was no cash in it, but I found cards for Future Shop, Sears, HBC, Blockbuster, and Video Difference (for those from Halifax who remember).
