The Democrats can’t do anything about this for now unless Rs join in. Hopefully, that won’t need the GOP starting in January.

I was listening to an NPR podcast yesterday and they mentioned "super intelligence". I chose a different podcast.

I have a very efficient, all-electric house; LED lights, induction cooking, heat pumps and two EVs in the garage. I also have solar panels on my roof. I feel so oppressed that I get free energy all year long.

I'm not sure this was a lie rather than an unintended consequence. Before the ACA, you could keep your insurance as long as they didn't dump you. The ACA didn’t make any changes to that and some people got dumped. The insurance industry liked the reinsurance on ACA plans, less uncertainty.

When I got my first real job at 15, my Republican aunt told me that I'd "never see a dime of that money again" because SS was about to run out of money. That was 52 years ago, I've just reached full retirement age and, surprisingly, SS is still around! You can’t believe anything Republicans say.

It seems to me that the "libs" prefer candidates who write legislation and the DSA folks prefer candidates who write (often quite inaccurate) slogans; substance vs. show.

Replace N. Dakota and S. Dakota with Dakota and Idaho, Montana and Wyoming with Idamontoming. Dakota will have a population the size of W. Virginia and Idamontoming the size of Utah. That's about as many people as Chicago. Make DC a state and we’re back to a 48 star flag!

Yes, that's what the GOP does. It night help though, if people who aren't really socialists would stop calling themselves socialists because they think it sounds cool. If they could just read a little bit of history, please?

The ACA as written provided universal healthcare for legal residents (most European countries exclude undocumented too). The ACA was significantly weakened by SCOTUS. The DSA can wave a magic wand to make SCOTUS go poof? California has affordable universal HC for those who sign up incl. undoc'ed.

There are record low murder rates in cities without socialist mayors and balanced budgets too. The state of NY has agreed to finance the pilot childcare program for two years and the grocery store idea is still just a (costly) plan. Democrats pass legislation when they have a majority too.

He was attempting to nominate a fusion candidate to reunite the country. Lincoln's private views were different from his public statements. Johnson had been a slave owner who chose to free his slaves prior to the war. Read "Boss Lincoln".

I was too young for mammograms myself then, but I never had a problem with Paps in the 80s, nor did any of my patients. I used to order mammograms routinely as well. I don’t believe that insurance paid for non-prostate dx Viagra until it went generic around 2005, but I had mostly female patients.

That's a nonsensical question. We charge at our house. We only use a commercial charger on a road trip. Electricity is available everywhere and decentralized chargers can easily be added throughout cities. When ICE cars were new, there wasn't any fuel infrastructure either.

Routine Pap smears started in the 1940s, routine mammography in the 1960s and Viagra was approved in 1998. Both screening tests were widely accepted and covered by insurance before the accidental discovery of Viagra's side effect. Viagra was originally just covered after prostate surgery.

I just have a blanket policy that no one should start their political career as U.S. Senator, governor or president. Start at your county board of supes or state rep. and work your way up. FDR started his career as a state rep. and was a considerably more deft president than the Idiot.

“Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” I'm not convinced that socialism is the solution to poorly regulated capitalism, but who knows? This might be the one time that socialism doesn’t turn into complete disaster. And no, the Nordics are not socialist countries.

The DSA has caucuses that are aligned with various communist parties. While far from all DSA members are communists, some of them are and that's why the party's founder left the party. Failing to acknowledge that is disingenuous.
