Chora is the capitol town on the island of Amorgos, Greece. One of the most strikingly iconic towns in the Cyclades, it’s a maze of whitewashed buildings with complicated geometries all piled on top of each other. I took some pictures - wanna see? 🧵

NASHVILLE, TN (August 25, 2026) – Global icon and humanitarian, Dolly Parton, known to the world as a beloved singer, songwriter, philanthropist, actress, playwright, and author died peacefully today in Nashville, Tennessee. She was 80 years old.

Dolly is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years Carl Thomas Dean (1942 – 2025), her mother Avie Lee Caroline Owens (1923 – 2003), and father, Robert Lee Parton, Sr. (1921 – 2000).

A rhinestone life that shone bright enough for the world to see, Dolly will forever stand as an inspiration not only through her timeless music and prolific songwriting, but also her wit, warmth, and kindness that made us all feel like family. Dolly Parton’s legacy is one of love, compassion, and resilience. I attended a friend’s first trimester ceremony this evening. In many traditions, the 120th day marks the quickening of spirit and the blessing of new life within the womb. So I brought a #Handmade #Sourdough #Rye #Focaccia to celebrate, decorated with kalamata olives, red onions, and garlic.

Two quarter-sheet-sized focaccia in a half-sheet-sized aluminum sheet pan, sliced into serving-sized rectangles. The focaccia is brown and bubbly, decorated with kalamata olives spelling out the number 120, as well as five-pointed kalamata flowers, red onion tulips, and garlic racemes.

Lacto-fermented green beans, with onions and serranos. I put a teabag of English breakfast in the brine, and the veggies came out nice and crisp. Also put twice as many serranos as seemed reasonable, and left the chili seeds intact, and it’s still just medium spicy. #veggie #fermentation

Attempted to make some soufflés, and they turned out pretty delicious! These had honey, cardamom, orange zest, and a dollop of marmalade in the bottom. Not pictured: the gruyère, mushroom and chive version.

So was Magritte a Surrealist? He hung out with a bunch of Surrealists, but denied being one. It seems like he wanted to defy labels - resisted being trapped inside a genre. Here’s a thread of some of his works that stood out to me, as I rushed too quickly through the Magritte museum in Brussels. 🧵

I got a chance to visit the Magritte museum in Brussels, and I was intrigued by this painting, “Hidden Labour” from 1936. Pretty boring, compared to all the surrounding “surrealist” art. Or, as Magritte would describe it, not surreal but “visible images which conceal nothing.” (1/3)

Doing a lacto-fermented version of a giardiniera, with cauliflower, carrots, green beans, red onion, red and orange bell peppers, jalapeño, and garlic. After 2-3 days, fermenting cauliflower smells like dirty feet. But after 7-10 days, it smells like a funky briny heaven. #veggie #fermentation

I made homemade chili crisp, and I’d eat it by the heaping spoonful if it weren’t so spicy! Cayennes from the garden, avo oil, crispy fried onions, fermented garlic and lemon, mustard and sesame seeds, and a little bit of coconut sugar.
