All said and done we paid $36 for a 2 hour trial. Could have been worse, but I don't see how they can compete without a proper way of letting people try things out. Or at the very least have a gracious refund policy since they CLEARLY track every minute of our viewing. A simple refund, and I'm good.

They've recently killed off their "Sling Passes" which would have let us try out the service and see if it'd meet our needs, and I can't find any way they support even 24-hour trials or anything like that. Local/Regional only supported if you add this "AirTV" device and sub, we're not doing that.

Highly recommend AVOIDING @slingtv.bsky.social if you're looking for other live TV streaming options. We signed up over the weekend for the Essentials plan because it looked like our local regional channels were included. Watched 2 hours, discovered they're not. #SlingTV refused a refund. TWO HOURS.

I am weirdly enjoying it more on PS5 Pro right now than I am on my beefy PC. That said, ray tracing is a bit broken on Linux right now with the game, so once the Proton issues are squared away I'm sure my mind will change. But still, very happy to have it working so well on PS5 Pro w/ cross-save!

It's what keeps me coming back to it. Especially now that we have more viable non-Meta options...I'm constantly wanting that TRON-like experience that makes me feel like I'm IN THE COMPUTER. I really want my Steam Frame reservation to come thru, sigh.

My first thought was, "Is that even real? Is that person an AI creation? WTF would they be doing this?" Not shocked at all to find out it's all bullshit. We need one of those fancy, "Lying is illegal" laws that civilized countries have.

We're very anti-ad supported wherever we can avoid it anyway, to the point where we'll pay a few bucks extra if we have to. I hate doing it but I just can't stand the ad spam these days, no matter where it's coming from.

Heh that's a funny one...we get Peacock Plus free w/ our Xfinity Internet service, but their ads on anything but Peacock Premium Plus (ugh those names) is SO HORRIBLE that it was making us stop watching some shows. On Premium Plus, we're actually enjoying shows we would have otherwise skipped.

A few random bits... 1. Disney+ needs to get their Hulu consolidation wrapped up, it's silly how it works right now. 2. Apple TV is probably one of the best apps, but STOP FORCING ME TO USE iOS devices to manage things! 3. Amazon does it make it easy to add 3rd party services, to their credit.

Either way, this is crazy, right? My wife's particular about spoilers and seeing shows she really cares about ASAP, so we're trying to account for that. And I do like the theoretical flexibility of "only paying for what you're watching" but reality is we're watching all over the place.

Just doing a breakdown of our current streaming charges and making some changes due to service consolidations, and by forcing cancellations and getting a few deals (AMC+ and MGM+ in particular) and finally trying to drop Hulu Live TV...may replace some with Sling TV if needed...saving some $$$.

And yet, there are still videographers, photographers, painters, composers, and on and on doing their own thing. I'm not enough of a creative type to feel it the same way a lot of you do, but I enjoy a lot of the work people put into those things. At some point you just have to do it your own way.
