Years ago my dachshund developed a tumor in the roof of his mouth. The vet removed it but told us he couldn't get it all. He said probably 3 months. We figured "What the hell, let's make him happy", so we gave him food you're not supposed to give dogs. Including M&Ms. He lived for five more years.

If they weren't synonyms before and they are now, they can become separate again. I want language to evolve where people speak precisely. You want it to devolve to where a person's vocabulary would be 500 Words. Millions of people eat at McDonald's. That doesn't make McDonald's haute cuisine.

If you really believe in a living language you should be able to accept that you can think I'm wrong, I can think you're wrong, and we can both be correct. In the future there will only be two warring tribes and they will be called 'The Podiums' and 'The Lecterns.'

I understand a living language, but using the wrong word for an object is not evolution, it is ignorance. It's like a baby, who has only ever seen dogs, calling every four-legged animal 'doggie!' You correct the infant: "No honey, that's a cat."
