Michigan Tech shocks Grand Valley State 41-35 in OT. The D2 equivalent of Vanderbilt beating Bama

Belichick couldn't even draft WRs in his Cleveland time other than Derrick Alexander either. Weird blind spot on his stellar career

New Lions practice squad DT Jeffrey M'ba was No. 286 prospect for me. IPP player via SMU. Traditional odd-front NT. Has sand in pants. Played stiff-kneed and upright too often, but when his ass was down he could get into the backfield a little. Finisher. Not a shedder

Yes he's the Bears DC. They're still running his system and that was my thinking, which apparently my editor didn't catch either lol

It was an idea from an ESPN guy, not an actual report. Maybe if the Steelers keep swooning it's worth talking about in another couple of weeks

How freaking much can a team miss Ethan Pocic to trade for a guy who looks practice squad-level at this point? Oof.

Jeff Risdon @jeffrizz.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

I think some of my optimism is rooted in the fact that so many other "contenders" are also struggling at various things. Lots of season left and the Lions are as capable as any of them of righting the listing ship

I don't expect him to get a new deal unless he breaks the team out of the current tailspin. Doesn't mean he's in trouble though.

I think with Jack, some is that they don't have a NT to keep him clean and he worries about that. Some is he's got more space to cover and that's always been his weak point, new scheme emphasizes his weakness. Some is he's just guessing and that's 💯 his problem

030

Jeff Risdon @jeffrizz.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

I touched on this in the live postgame before my internet crapped out. Yes, they're good against their own units. But it doesn't translate or prep them well for games against others. Like Harbaugh at UM, same problem

Nix finished at 2.84 time to throw and 2.0 air yards per attempt, per TruMedia. The only other games since the start of last season over 2.75 TTT and under 2.5 air yards per attempt were by Shedeur Sanders (vs Bills) and Bryce Young (vs Seahawks), both in 2025.

Ideally, you tailor your scheme to what best fits your personnel on hand. That's one area where I think Sheppard is still figuring things out. And figuring it out slower than I'd like

010

Jeff Risdon @jeffrizz.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

The Colts traded for Sauce Gardner, a better player, and have a worse D than the Lions do. It's not the same thing, I get that, but it's also hard to ignore that very recent precedent.

Jets had someone open off the snap - didn't catch the number and Geno didn't see him on that 2-point try. It's Lions 24, Jets 16 with 11:17 to go. Weirdly aggressive 2-point try for Glenn after he went super conservative end of the game last week.
