Excited to share that I’ll be starting my MSc in Health Sciences @sfu.ca studying #SocialPrescribing this fall. I’m really grateful for the mentors, collaborators, and communities who’ve supported me along the way. Special thanks to @nurselillian.bsky.social, @idea.nursing.ubc.ca, and @cspsc.ca.

Stephen Lewis was a democratic socialist who never stopped demanding a better world for all. How proud he must have been to see @avilewis.ca step into NDP leadership in his final days. May he rest in power.

What an eye opening talk on AI by @karenhao.bsky.social at UBC. I’ll admit I had zero clue about the deeply disturbing nature of LLM content moderation, and how Open AI contracted out these traumatizing tasks involving repeated exposure to extremely graphic content to workers in LMICs like Kenya…
Karen Hao and Naomi Klein speaking on stage at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts at the University of British Columbia. My signed copy of Karen Hao’s book “Empire of AI.” Her message to me reads “Jeffrey– Thank you for supporting my work!” She also stamped “Certified 100% Human: genAI Free” on the bottom corner of the title page.

Left the @COPEVancouver.bsky.social holiday party tonight feeling energized. This was my first COPE event! I’m so grateful for the warm welcome and the conversations with folks organizing across the city. Excited to keep learning and showing up 🌹
Got these COPE Vancouver red campaign buttons from the party tonight: one button reads “EVICT KEN SIM” and the other reads “RENT IS TOO DAMN HIGH.” Both have small “VOTECOPE.CA” text at the bottom.

If you haven’t already, make sure you subscribe to @medsky.social! It’s a Bluesky network and labeler for healthcare folks that adds little topic labels (like “Primary Care” and “Public Health”) under your name. You can DM them and they’ll help you get started!

So proud to contribute to the Canadian arm of the IAIC study on perceptions of aging and aging well with colleagues from @idea.nursing.ubc.ca. Great to see @nurselillian.bsky.social repping 🇨🇦 to share our results in Singapore.

Great week of learning and connecting at #CAG_2025 in Montréal with @nurselillian.bsky.social and the @idea.nursing.ubc.ca team. Presented posters on a seated dance pilot in LTC and a scoping review on social support for 2S/LGBTQ+ older adults in Canada :)

As someone working closely with this research, I see these (very adorable) robots not as a replacement for human care, but rather as tools to complement and enhance human interaction :)

Just registered for the @jbiebhc.bsky.social Comprehensive #SystematicReview Training this October through @uvic.ca. Excited to strengthen my evidence synthesis skills as I dig deeper into #SocialPrescribing and #SeniorCare research to help build the evidence base!

I work in a large organization (UBC), so from time to time, people trying to reach another Jeffrey Wong accidentally email me. So far, I’ve been an OB/GYN and a tech manager… who knows how many more Jeffrey Wongs are out there lol

Wrapped up our #NWRS2025 presentation on LOVOT in LTC—honoured to share voices of older adults, people living with dementia, and their carers. Thank you to Arwen for being a wonderful co-presenter, @idea.nursing.ubc.ca for the support, and SFU Computing Science for hosting.

Me when there’s food @idea.nursing.ubc.ca 🤓 Thank you so much for the delicious meal @nurselillian.bsky.social 🫶🏼
Jeffrey Wong smiles and gives a double thumbs-up beside Dr. Lillian Hung, who is serving food from a spread of Asian dishes including braised meat in curry, fried tofu, and leafy greens.

Thomas presented our rapid review on the role of volunteers in diabetes self-management and social prescribing at #INCREASEBC today! Greatful to be a co-author on this work.

A series of unfortunate events led to a visit to my local @fraserhealth.ca Urgent & Primary Care Centre, then the ER over the weekend—followed by caring healthcare providers, friends, and colleagues who reminded me I wasn’t alone🥺

Attended part of the Hobiyee celebrations at Vancouver’s PNE Forum today. It was powerful to witness the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) performing their celebration song—an expression of culture, resilience, and joy. Greatful for the chance to learn and celebrate alongside our Indigenous communities 😊

Back in September, the @cspsc.ca team spoke at the @cisp-icps.bsky.social conference in Toronto. Grateful to have been part of such a meaningful event that brought together scholars, practitioners, and champions of #SocialPrescribing!!!
