Update: The Agriculture Department just told the court it will use its entire emergency fund over the next month to make 50% payments to every SNAP recipient. My office is still reviewing the order to see what else we can do to help, but we all need to give extra support our local food pantries.

Great news: In the lawsuit we filed, a federal court just ruled that the Agriculture Department acted unlawfully by refusing to use its emergency fund to make SNAP payments. It has until Monday to deliver a plan to pay benefits. This is a major step toward making sure 16m kids don’t go hungry.

This morning I joined a thousand people at UNC’s football stadium for a 9/11 stair climb led by UNC’s ROTC, where I was once a cadet. Together we climbed roughly 2,000 steps in remembrance of the firefighters who ascended the towers that day. My thanks to everyone who joined us for a great event.

Breaking: The court just ruled that FEMA can’t spend NC’s $200m in disaster preparedness money elsewhere while our lawsuit against them plays out. FEMA broke the law when it cut these funds for our water and sewer systems. We’re going to keep fighting to make sure this funding is restored.

Big win: A judge just ruled that Google's ad technology business is an illegal monopoly. Democratic and Republican AGs, including us, sued Google for illegally using its power to drive out competitors, forcing other websites to create paywalls to make revenue, and ultimately harming you, the user.
