It’s nuts and I don’t know why coaches put up with it. I’m a Chelsea fan and have no idea what any of the 47 sporting directors sound like, or even if they can speak for that matter. For a fan of North American sports it is so jarring.

Sounds like you need to develop an interest in winter sports! I had an almost un-Canadian dislike of winter until I became a skier, now I’m waiting impatiently for the snow to start.

Absolutely. Someone tried to convince me that if there was a “kinetic action” against us instigated by Trump, it would cause a civil war within the US military. But you guys won’t even fight for yourselves, why would I ever believe you would lift a finger for me?

Well said. The number of American liberals showing their whole ass by saying “oh m gee Canadians are so cringe” in response to Canadians being understandably concerned about this unwarranted aggression has been both disappointing and revealing. Suffice to say it will never be forgotten.

Yeah I’ve had so many of these interactions and it is making me question my (or their) connection with reality…. It’s like we are being scolded for not being polite enough in confronting our attempted dismantling.

It is, but not for the reason you think. It’s a bunch of Americans arguing about the “real” meaning of a common term while completely missing the substantive point (y’all elected the man and have to reckon with the consequences) with almost diabolical levels of obtuseness.

Those were the days. And every smart associate knew to develop a very warm relationship with the word pro people… otherwise your work product may come back looking sub-optimal.

I appreciate your thoughtful response. I don’t think though that we have the luxury of saying “it’s not all Americans, it’s Trump”- at a certain point we as Canadians are entitled to take your government at its word, and right now that government is exceedingly hostile to us.

Like US forces apparently engaging in piracy on the high seas caused a fracture? I really hope you are right, but having spent 10 years seeing things I never thought I would see, my confidence is waning.

Not messing with you, genuinely curious… why is our anger frustrating? I realize the odds of a major issue between CAN and the US are low, but the stakes are so much higher for us. If Trump takes action against us, you will be surprised, bemused, disappointed. I, on the other hand, may be dead!

I’m not sure who you are listening to that is suggesting that, because I have certainly never heard that from any official on the Canadian side. No serious person could suggest that the EU (with any combination of CA, NZ, and AUS) can replace existing US dependencies in our lifetime.

I typically really appreciate your work but I do not understand this dismissive approach- yes, it is primarily about trade! So what? And lecturing Canadians about over-reacting to the predatory behaviour of your government is, to use what you probably see as overheated rhetoric, revolting.

Someone should come up with a name to describe them… national socialists, maybe?

In contrast, in Canada (the place Trump was going to take over by destroying our economy, you may recall) we added 75k jobs in July 🤷‍♂️

We’ll have to agree to disagree on that one but good to see another Chelsea fan on here. For the (new?) price I’d rather just go for Lewis Hall I think

Don’t get me wrong, they’ve messed up plenty, but I don’t think this is the case. The sale prices on the outgoings have been pretty strong so I don’t think they would be good negotiators on one side but bad on the other.

I initially read this as “farcically neutral” and on further reflection I think it describes the situation just as well. These six robed politicians have dropped any pretence of legal reasoning, which in the long run should hopefully have the effect of hastening Court reform.

You obviously are a woman of strongly held beliefs. You also clearly reside in Toronto: instead of arguing with strangers on the internet, why don’t you leave your urban enclave and join us in rural Canada to live your principles. I predict though your back to the land cosplay would last a week

On the bright side multiple games a week might not be an issue in the short term lol. I just noticed your new YouTube video is up, will watch it with great interest, your insights are much appreciated

This is interesting in that one of the reasons given for going with Rosenior was an easy transition because of a similar play style. In any event- is Iraola’s style at all suited to the squad? I don’t watch much Bournemouth but people say his very direct football might not work with the squad

On paper I would say it’s worse, or at least has more uncertainty, given that the major change is Bo out (proven performer) and Okamoto in (looks good so far but not a proven MLB hitter). And it is banking on some guys (George mainly) not reverting to the mean after a big 2025.

Speaking of Very Online, Jain’s brain has been cooked from being on X. I’m embarrassed that he’s a Chelsea fan (and there is a lot to be embarrassed about as a Chelsea fan these days unfortunately)

It seems a bit of a no-win situation. Not a TJ subscriber so can’t tell if this was addressed in the story, but does the per capita revenue shortfall stem from new pop growth being tied to multi-unit builds (having less prop tax burden “per person”)?

I can’t decide if this is monstrous insecurity or insane levels of main character energy… why are our own policy choices and way of life such a threat to you that we are “opponents”? I never saw Americans with different beliefs as threats. Until they started literally threatening us that is.

Would you do a free agent guard to replace Zion, or to free up a draft pick for DE or DT?

Using terrorists and armed militias to crack down on peaceful dissent? Huh- wonder if that is happening anywhere else in the world right now?

It is noteworthy that these freaks live in a fantasy world of power and domination that is, to put it charitably, never going to happen for them in reality.

Look, Tom Brady has no history of non-compliance with league rules so I’m sure it will all be fine.

Fun, and some success. Growing revenue is tied to competitiveness (UCL revenue, secured for one year at least) and a new/upgraded stadium (obviously a long-term project). If you think they are making cash losses now, wait til the stadium gets underway.

For sure, but a good portion of that relates to structural issues (smallest matchday revenue of the Big 6) and turning over basically the entire squad in 2022-23. The long-term outlook is still uncertain but recent success on player sales gives me some hope for the future.

Getting anywhere near the ridiculous price they paid for Felix is close to wizardry in my opinion. Admittedly the Saudi league bails them out in this case, but the other sales (Madueke, Petrovic) have been for tidy profits.

Glad to have found your feed again after I fled the “bad place”. As I recall you were quite negative on Maresca’s hiring… does the season’s results (and I guess I would include the CWC in this season) change your perspective at all?

One of the most serious negative consequences of the online age is that it promotes behaviour that, in the real world, will get you punched.

This is only one data point but we live close to the border (as most Canadians do) and would typically visit 4-6 times per year but won’t return until 2028 (or maybe later?). Both out of principle (the 51st state nonsense) and caution (don’t want to be disappeared to El Salvador arbitrarily)
