Apparently you can do plays too? So I put together a separate one for plays. In case anyone cares.

In case anyone cares. (It's #BannedBookWeek, and I'm sure most or all of these have been banned at some point.)

Starting right now at Word on the Street. Table IA23. By a wacky coincidence, I'm next to Silva Redigona again.

Word on the Street is back tomorrow, and once again, I'm an exhibitor on both days. Drop by table IA23 in Indie Alley to say hello, perhaps buy one of my two books, Hate Story and Performance Reviews.

Welcoming figure, from the Royal B.C. Museum. I think the Chinguacousy Library in Brampton had a similar sculpture when I was little, and it was a little scary.

Stained-glass windows and shit. (The Queen Victoria one was locked up in the basement for sixty-two years. Everybody forgot about it.)

Victoria City Hall... the actual front entrance this time. Also a nineteenth-century fireman bell, now a memorial.

Statue of Emily Carr and her monkey, plus a doggy. Also a better shot of the Empress Hotel, now that the sun had the courtesy to shine from the right direction.

At last, the fabled Douglas Street. I know of it only because, in the Canadian Monopoly game from the '80s, Douglas Street was Boardwalk. (Because the street order ran from east to west. Yonge and Bay and Sussex Drive were the red properties.) Would you buy it for four hundred dollars?

And here's my first look at Victoria: more totems, at the airport.

Apparently there's a B.C. Entertainment Hall of Fame on Granville Street. Mostly folks I've never heard of. Also Diana Krall, Bryan Adams, Sarah McLaughlin, Nickelback (I thought they were from Alberta?), and... Terry David Mulligan? I remember him from MuchMusic. Has he done other stuff?

Two doors down from my hostel is an independent theatre, running a new play about Oscar Wilde. (The playwright's here tonight too.)

A few shots at the Police Museum. (The lion costume was used for the Vancouver Police Department's Lion Dance Team. Something to do with Chinese New Year.) There was also a sad video about a police dog that lost its life in service.
