Imagine a business that tries to sell products/services that people like. Not trying to trap people in a subscription. Not trying to be acquired, do an IPO, or ‘growth’ for its own sake. Just getting paid decently to produce a cool thing. Is this a realistic business model in the US anymore?

So 10-15 years ago, users wouldn’t ditch proprietary tools because the learning curve was too steep (valid), but today, it’s because they stubbornly don’t want to learn (not valid)? How’s that different? When I design UIs, I have to meet clients where they are, or else they won’t pay me.

Nexus often does UX for noobs in a way that FOSS fails to do. If it’s a “common phenomenon” for casual users to bitch about the learning curve for a piece of software, that’s a usability issue, not a PEBCAK issue
