Oh? Hadn’t heard about this but would like learn more.

My Windows version doesn’t do that—how fun!

Brave soul! I wait 2 weeks between my flu and COVID shots, but I totally get the appeal of getting them all out of the way. Please feel better soon.

I ordered a 10 pack of BinaxNOW combo COVID/flu tests from Amazon.

Why write an email? From a high schooler’s perspective, it would be another app/program/site to learn. Everything is through their LMS or app on their phone. Maybe it’s the start of the death of email? Of course, they’re writing their emails with AI…

Jean Thoensen 🗳🎓🍫 @jeanthoensen.bsky.social · 26/08/2026

I know! Teaching how to email seems like something you shouldn’t have to do. That being said, all future professors of these students will forever be in your debt.

In high school, they probably had to contact teachers only through their LMS. Email may not be a skill yet?

I love the businesses that exist to fill gaps like this!

I was never able to live in the city when I was in the Bay Area for a few years, though I very much wanted to. So much I missed discovering! Your photos are so delightful.

I had no idea San Francisco had all the beautiful staircases you post.

As of 9:38 AM EDT, @cnn.com’s home page and US pages have no mention of the U.S. EAC commissioner firings. Coverage is related to the politics page.

Jean Thoensen 🗳🎓🍫 @jeanthoensen.bsky.social · 10/07/2026

This seems really bad. The U.S. EAC creates the standards for voting equipment, among many things. Without commissioners, the agency is powerless.

We watched the NYC fireworks display on TV, and even on TV, it far surpassed anything that might launch into a sodden cloudy sky later tonight in DC. Props to @mayor.nyc.gov and the people of New York for showing us how it’s done!

Do you think they will even attempt to override the veto? This is quite a “let them eat cake” moment.

I don’t care for it, personally. It’s like denial of what happened.

I’m guessing they don’t see the irony of the last post in the thread about supporting free speech. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Finally, and most importantly, the voters. Millions may go to their polling location only to be surprised that it has moved entirely or that the candidates on the ballot are not what they expected. Will they vote anyway? Can/will they travel to their new polling location? I worry that many may not.

Now multiply this by all the states in or joining the redistricting fray. Election offices are stretched thin as they scramble to accommodate new legislative requirements forced upon them. But they comply, as they must.

110

Jean Thoensen 🗳🎓🍫 @jeanthoensen.bsky.social · 10/05/2026

Many localities were having to redraw some congressional district boundaries. That impacts so many things! Precincts and voters would have been shuffled around. This work was already well underway in election offices.

110

Jean Thoensen 🗳🎓🍫 @jeanthoensen.bsky.social · 10/05/2026

Take the recent case in Virginia, where that state’s Supreme Court struck down the redistricting amendment and nullified the election where a majority voters approved it. Long before that election, preparations were underway statewide to implement the new districts.

110

Jean Thoensen 🗳🎓🍫 @jeanthoensen.bsky.social · 10/05/2026

Most redistricting and cancelled/postponed elections coverage has not touched on the fact that election offices must prepare for elections even if they don’t happen. You don’t snap your fingers and ballots and tested voting equipment magically appear. Months of planning and work are involved.

The most incomprehensible ones to me are those who receive disability benefits under age 65 with Medicaid. Some of those folks rail against the government. Then their benefits are cut and their tune changes. They had no idea, I guess? 🤷🏻‍♀️

We need a thousand Mamdanis communicating all the things government does! Policies don’t have to be as progressive in all communities, but the message has to be that government is vital!

010

Jean Thoensen 🗳🎓🍫 @jeanthoensen.bsky.social · 09/05/2026

I’m stunned how many people hate the “government” without any concept of how much “government” they depend on from the moment they wake up until they go to bed.

The ground game for D-GOTV will have to be at 2008 levels or more, don’t you think, to get there?

I’d preface that with the Democrats need to find their fighting game to drive that turnout. They are far too tepid rn to create the tsunami they talk about. No clear messaging.
