I guess this leaves the question of whether the ultimate cost will be paid by Manchester City or the Premier League after most serious events in EPL history. Where will claim and counter claim result? www.theguardian.com/football/202...

Reminiscent of Michel Zen-Ruffinen, and Doris Valasek in 2002. The wrangling clearly continues. And no, boycotting the women’s U20 will not help as it is largely irrelevant (to FIFA) as a commercial product. Now’s not the time to use women’s football this way. www.theguardian.com/football/202...

UEFA have now ramped this up with a *potential* legal threat, however, recourse to CAS appears unlikely given that it has largely been toothless. Maybe just not getting the leverage required so far. Could risk stalling, as Lennart Johansson ultimately did against Blatter in 1998. All in the book…

The AFC may be pivotal given the lack of unanimity in CONCACAF but it could just be a bargaining position for more money - hence the phrase ‘this is not about money.’ 😉 it may also be about hosting future world cups. Will have very little to do with the soul of football www.uefa.com/news-media/n...

www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... It’s only those who made it out who can play. The attempted erasion of women and girls under the Taliban is an international scandal and we should not look away. Were there a political will it could be changed and challenged.

Obvs love the first episode of #Ted #Lasso, but if the history of women’s football is worth doing, even with creative licence, it’s worth doing right. Women were not allowed to play again after the 1921 FA ban in England in 1971. It was overturned in 1969 and ratified by FA council Jan 1970.

This is the key issue. It’s not infantino (or any of his potential successors) that is the problem but the tension between developing football worldwide and making money. UEFA will be jostling for an advantage from Infantino’s mistakes, negotiating for its own purpose. www.ft.com/content/76d2...

As a historian always an interesting weekend when a GP is held the same day as a World Cup final. Often F1 acting as a curtain raiser for the football later in the day. In the early days Liberty Media being less willing than Ecclestone to move the F1, but today being more astute about fan overlaps…
