Arrived in Exeter and just about managed to persuade the very patient receptionist to print my conference paper. Looking forward to the next couple of days at Beyond the Battlefield with @earlymodernwar.bsky.social

🚨CFP: SRS, London, 30 June-3 July 2027 #EarlyModern friends, I am once again asking for your abstracts! @jenmcfarland.bsky.social and I are delighted to be organising a panel on 'The Indian Mediterranean' for the 2027 SRS (@srsrensoc.bsky.social) Conference at the @warburginstitute.bsky.social! 👇
Call for Papers for the Biennial Conference of the Society for Renaissance Studies which will be held in London from 30 June to 3 July 2027. Abstracts from researchers of all career stages (including independent scholars and graudate students) are invited for a panel on 'The Indian Mediterranean'. The panel explores both the presence of people from India in the early modern Mediterranean (1400-1700) as well as the use of the descriptor 'Indian' or 'from the Indies' when describing migrant, displaced, and captive people. If you are interested in applying, please send us a 200-word abstract, a provisional title, and a 100-word bio by 10 September 2026. We are hoping to get back to you with a final decision on 15 September 2026. If you'd like to receive an accessible, B&W, Word-verison of this document, please feel free to DM me.

Delighted to share that my first book, The Noise of Piracy, 1690-1705, is now under contract with @boydellandbrewer.bsky.social. It’s very exciting, even if there is still plenty of writing ahead! Thanks, as always, to everyone who helped the project get this far! 🏴‍☠️ @stcatharines.bsky.social

Just received a small bit of cautious good news in the post-PhD wilderness: The Noise of Piracy, 1690–1705 has gone to formal publisher review! Nothing agreed or signed yet, but after years of archives, thesis-writing, revisions, and trying to make a book out of it all, it feels like some progress.
