It sometimes takes a lifetime to realize we are not our parents. I never wanted kids because of a similar situation so I really feel for you. Although I don’t know you, I do get the sense that you would be a terrific father: your commitment to equality, justice and humanity speak loudly.

One of my favourite parts of being a dad was getting my kids ready for bed: goofing around a bit, hearing about their day, their adventures, then snuggling up and reading till they fell asleep. Heaven.
