There is a version of me that became a Franciscan friar. Sometimes I think about that. But at the same time, I wouldn’t trade my family for the world so I’m not sure mourn is the right word.

That’s just stupid. Our government, and society in general, went so over the top that middle eastern Christians even suffered for it.

I had enough cherry tomatoes left over from my snacking last week to make my own cherry tomato pasta sauce. Homegrown sauce is great.

We keep getting adds for him in Missouri. I’m disappointed to see him resort to mudslinging, although I guess it’s the name of the game in today’s world.

My dad got a doctorate from Fuller back in the 90s. Not sure if it was phd or dmin though. Said it was amazing for learning.

That’s why it always kills me when I see someone joke about “the far right wants to bring back segregation, the far left wants healthcare for all; so they’re both the same.” To rib centrists. That’s white-washing the far left. There are people on the far left who would be just as bad as far right…

I don’t know enough about military procedure to know what is supposed to happen when they get home, not that procedure seems to mean much to the current leaders of the military.

…does that then mean that Satan’s ultimate goal is the dissolution of all things into oblivion, including himself? Does Satan want all things to cease to exist? That would mean he does not merely wish to rule, but desires the end of all things.

He was a rich cog, so I guess that made it ok /s The kind of violence necessary to permanently change the system is beyond most people, would probably wind up getting a group caught if they started planning it, and would most likely backfire even if they succeeded.

As someone who pastors in a rural community, I do have to wonder what the response would be if I talked about Christians in late antiquity as city dwelling hipsters, heh.

I’m just going off of what I vaguely remember hearing in church history class 20 years ago, but didn’t the early Christians themselves talk about rural communities as primarily worshipping the old gods? I seem to recall the term Pagan coming from the word Pagus, for a rural district in the Empire.

I’m pretty sure Muslims don’t believe God is the father of humanity, so sky daddy is a poor choice of words. If you are going to mock someone who is religious, at least get their religion right.

You overestimate how much sticking power that has in people’s minds. Millions of Americans saw pictures of Rwanda on their screens when I was a kid, it was all over the news. Then they went back to their dinner and moved on with life. If it’s not in our backyard we forget easily.

Depends on where in England you are. If you are closer to Cornwall or Wales or the Old North, the old Brythonic strands are more genetically dominant. Southern and eastern England tend to be much more genetically Germanic. But thanks for making my point for me. Separate groups eventually become one

Are there still people who do door to door preaching? I thought that was mostly dead in the water outside of seminary classes on evangelism.
