I’ve used it a few times to make presentations for work things and it does a pretty great job. Especially since they were throw away presentations. Wouldn’t use it for my talks though. I’d still rather build that myself.

I would start with how much space you are thinking first, then decide on the drives, then the Synology NAS device. They make all kinds so there is one for you.

When I built mine, I started with a 9tb (4 3tb drives) in a RAID-5. I filled that up in about a year and that was primarily video. I then upgraded to a 30tb RAID-5 (4x 10tb drives) and have been coasting on that for a while with plenty of space left over…
