I've gotten super into 3D printing landscapes of places that are important to me. Here's Okutama and Fukuoka. They're interchangeable magnetic tiles.

Handheld devices were better when syncing data over the internet was an intentional decision. You couldn't send my palm pilot a "notification" - what a ridiculous premise.
A small Palm OS Emulator window showing the HotSync app. The screen has “Welcome.” near the top, tabs labeled “Local” and “Modem,” and a central sync icon with red and blue arrows above the label “Cradle/Cable.” At the bottom are “Log” and “Help” buttons.

I'll probably make some keychains for myself (and publish a frame for doing so if I do!) but in the meantime feel free to make whatever your heart desires. The cool thing about good transit design is that these icons are bold, recognizable, and can fit whatever surroundings you wish.

My father-in-law is an old school web developer. We were visiting the old Bootstrap landing page a few years ago and I asked him what it would cost to build it today. I will never forget his answer… “We can’t, we don’t know how to do it.”

I bought this stamp which can be rearranged to any calendar I want. It is very silly.
A modular stamp made of small wooden rectangles. The front of the stamp is shown with MTWTFSS at the top, followed by the numbers 1-31 arranged in a grid. The bottom portion of the stamp is shown, with the numbers and letters from the front side embossed to create a surface for ink.The stamp has been used on the top left corner of a notebook, showing the calendar with the 1 starting under F for friday. An ink pad is to the right of the notebook.

Screenshot of a dark-mode Notion workspace called “Japan Metro / Lines.” The left panel shows a table of train lines with columns for Name, Visited percentage, and Num Stops; “(Fukuoka) Nanakuma” is selected, alongside lines like Airport, Asakusa, Chiyoda, Ginza, and Marunouchi. The right panel shows the “(Fukuoka) Nanakuma” page with a table of 18 stations from Hashimoto to Hakata, including station names, stop numbers, place names, sign icons, and visit status tags such as “Entered/Exited” and “Passed thru.”

The two Fukuoka stations at the top have a "Visited" score of 100%

I have two types of Japanese cards (1) "Comprehension" to memorize nouns, verbs, and simple phrases. These are simple front/back with extra fields (2) "Vocabulary" to see words in sentences to help with grammatical structure. These are "cloze" cards in Anki. Common wisdom is to make them granular!

Did a big groan when I opened up Advent of Code this morning and saw a graph problem. I didn't feel good about pairing with Claude on it (what's the point of solving the problem at all?) so as retribution I had Claude generate some LaTeX explaining our solution and now I'm forcing myself to read it
Counting Paths in Directed Acyclic Graphs:
Solutions to Advent of Code 2025 Day 11
Jordan Scales
December 11, 2025
Abstract
We present efficient algorithms for counting paths in directed graphs with and without
constraints. Part A addresses the unconstrained path counting problem from node you to out,
while Part B extends this to count paths from svr to out that must visit both dac and fft.
The key insight that enables efficient computation is recognizing the input graph as a Directed
Acyclic Graph (DAG), allowing dynamic programming with memoization to reduce exponential
complexity to linear time.
