It looks even weirder from the side
A side view of the TPUSA Arizona statue, definitely holding some sort of hat but it’s still kinda weird looking. Kirk’s profile is odd and I’m not sure it’s accurate.

On the one hand I’m dying horribly a lot, but on the other hand I’m a cloned private military contractor so I deserve it and it’s not permanent. Maybe I’ll meet a cool demon and my luck will change.

A picture of a Dachshund skateboarding down stone stairs, which NPR ran as the article thumbnail when announcing that Clarence Thomas had contracted COVID.

The choice was understandable as the dog is, similarly, sick as hell.

The Smiling Man, beaming with barely contained mirth because AI is taking an embarrassing, vindicating hit. Also he’s maybe wearing a cat as a scarf.

The image is closely-cropped: his chin is taking up a full third of the frame, mouth and cheeks pulled up as if trying to frogmarch his nose onto his forehead. His eyes, widened to what would normally be a distressing degree, are bleeding out of the frame.

A two panel comic. In the upper panel, a hand hovers before two buttons, one labeled "turn away a guest" and the other labeled "let a guest go hungry" in block capitals. In the bottom panel is the reverse shot, where a profusely sweating white man with brown hair and blue eyes, wearing red spandex with white gloves, mops his forehead with a cloth.

I needed to double check that this post was new, because I was instantly transported to four months ago when he compared "requiring Kamala not supply Israel’s genocide campaign" to "demanding a pony"
post by wil wheaton

"But they had something to vote for, it was and is called 250 years of flawed American Democracy.

They demanded a pony, and when they didn't get one, they had a tantrum, and now we are all suffering. Of course I will blame them. They failed the easiest open book civics test in history."

Cartoon by Mattie Lubchansky, of a The Price is Right-style game show set, seen from among the audience. On stage, a man in business-casual dress has his hand on a giant switch, whose up and down position are both labled with a giant question mark. He is holding his other hand to his ear and grinning.

Progressively larger speech bubbles show the crowd chanting the name of the show, also in a lighted sign above the stage curtain: "Is That Good?"

Late to the Leonard Nimoy party, but even absent everything else we know or read about the man, it seems like Nichelle Nichols genuinely liked him and that’s all the endorsement you could need, right there.

He has one arm around Nichelle Nichols, who is looking up at him warmly.Leonard Nimoy standing behind Nichelle Nichols at some kind of outdoor event. Nichols is wearing a necklace of large beads and an embroidered jacket, capped with a sequined hat. Nimoy wears what looks like a pendleton or similar woollen jacket and large glasses. He has a hand on Nichelle’s shoulder. They seem comfortable with each other.

A screencap skeet. The screengrabbed post reads: I honestly can’t stand seeing people say Gen AI is a disability aid because if it was a disability aid, they wouldn’t be putting this much money into it.

The post to which the screengrab is attached reads: Can we not with takes like this? Big tech companies actually have put in a lot of work on accessibility in their products, people just don't notice it because those accessibility features are also useful to them, personally.

Not to be confused with (The) Kid With the Golden Arm(s) (1979)
A Chinese poster for 1979’s Kid With the Golden Arms (sic), a Shaw Brothers martial arts film.

The painted poster centers a boquet of characters brandishing weapons or their bare hands, in a style familiar to many adventure films, notably Star Wars for American viewers of the time. At the bottom of the poster, a number of charging horses peeks out from behind the title, which is rendered three dimensionally as if it were a statue or monolith, albeit seen from above.

I somehow managed to swing a pre-screening of Jurassic Park (1993), which included an insert shot of Ellie grabbing that leaf she’s distracted by in the big reveal scene. It’s not in the final film.
Ellie Sattler in Jurassic Park, looking at a leaf she’s snatched offscreen. In the theatrical version anyway.A capture of the deleted shot. Seen from a low angle, Ellie leans head and shoulder out of a moving jeep to snatch a leaf from a roadside fern. She’s wearing sunglasses, although the shot is dark, implying that they’re in deep overgrowth, which is what I remember of this scene.

Four examples of badly-rendered bicycles from an article about the Bicycle Drawing Test in cognigive psychology. The four examples all depict all-wheel drive bicycles; one shows the pedals as disconnected from the chain, one has brake levers and the suggestion of a rear derailleur, and one includes a tube connecting the front axle to the seatpost, making it impossible to steer.
