Integer Passes. C4D Setup and AE Implementation for a Mosaic Logo. I needed a solution to select clones via Essential Properties but cryptomattes need to be clicked to make selections. Integer Passes to the rescue! I couldn't find any info online about using them in AE so here's my contribution

The Chicago Mograph Community's personal project fest Moonlighters (@moonlighterschi) happened on Wednesday and it was so good! I contributed a shot for the cryptid/alien/occult title sequence, and it ended up being the first montage shot! Felt good to set the tone. I can't wait for next year!

I take notes at every conference and transcribe them so I can take a second pass at the content and make the content accessible. I post those notes publicly hoping it can help someone else. And I do basically nothing. This is the first time I've met someone who's saved my notes. Warmed my heart.

To animate the transition, It's just the threshold effect clipping only the relevant pixels. Because 8 Bit images contain 256 colors per channel, you can save an 8.5second animation within a single png! (at 30fps) Honestly that's really long.

This entire animation is contained within this single image! Each frame is given a unique grey value and then stacked. It looks like a depth matte but it contains temporal information instead.

A quick BTS of the wine transition. Dominik Ruckli's match size capsule keeps a cube at the right size and position at the center of the wine mesh. Then I boolean them. You can see a plane showing the tracked footage FOV parented to the surface. I morph between the two cameras!
