They’re asking if calling updates “drops” is just a rebrand to call updates a different name.

It’s been a month, and it seems unfortunate that the pattern is continuing with the Sulfur Caves and Sulfur Cube being yet another new addition being made over addressing outdated areas of the game. Idk how long it has been planned ahead but the community is reaching a boiling point with the drops.

What are they even fixing? The first release candidate had zero bug fixes and the second RC only has one.

It’s pre-release 3 and this bug is still unaddressed.

@sarahboev.bsky.social Sorry to bother you but, like the Baby Zombified Piglin just doesn’t look good. Is this truly deemed by the entire art team as a suitable long term design for this mob? With the side nostril and misaligned eye socket?

@jebox.bsky.social Having Fire Aspect and Flame and Knockback and Punch be seperate enchantments feels quite redundant when they have the same effects but on a sword/bow. Is there a reason why they were made separate when they were added?
000
UnknownPlayer @jcss0n.bsky.social · 22/02/2026
The Trident could be improved by adding Bedrock Impaling to Java and give it access to knockback and Looting. The Crossbow can also be improved by giving it Power, Flame, and Punch. Imo with all those issues considered those two weapons are in great need of revisiting. 6/6

UnknownPlayer @jcss0n.bsky.social · 22/02/2026
The Mace and Spear are vastly better since they can both get a couple sword enchantments like fire aspect, looting, knockback and the damage boosting enchantments. Without those additional common enchantments those weapons will see much less use. 5/6

UnknownPlayer @jcss0n.bsky.social · 22/02/2026
The change in approach to weapon enchantments has left the trident and crossbows as ironically outdated given they came from some of the largest updates. The difference in power and utility brought by the difference in accessible enchantments is staggering now. 4/6

UnknownPlayer @jcss0n.bsky.social · 22/02/2026
Both of these older weapons lack damage boosting enchantments. Using the Spear on a Nautilus is better than using a trident when it comes to underwater combat due to the better damage output and the crossbow has always had less potential than the bow. 3/6

UnknownPlayer @jcss0n.bsky.social · 22/02/2026
I’m wondering if you would share some insight on the mindset at the time when adding enchantments for the Trident and Crossbow and why they were limited to their own exclusive enchantments. I’d also like to know why the approach to new weapon enchants changed when the Mace and Spear came around. 2/6

@jebox.bsky.social Hey Jeb, I noticed that the approach to adding new weapons to Minecraft has changed recently. The Trident and Crossbows are pretty limited power wise compared to the Mace or the Spear due to the difference in applicable enchantments. 1/6

Is being featured in promotional material an indication that a feature is finalized? All the baby mobs have been in social media shorts soon after snapshots despite some people giving feedback wanting some revisions. 2/2

@jebox.bsky.social Jeb, I am wondering when is the latest point in which features in snapshots could be noticeably changed. 1/2

Here are some really simple tweaks I did to the Zombified Piglin texture that improves it by a lot imo.
010
UnknownPlayer @jcss0n.bsky.social · 11/02/2026
This armor design pretty much only looks good on the Baby Piglin. The wide armor and the 3 pixel nose guard fits perfectly. Keep the current baby armor model for the Baby Piglin and redesign both the Baby Zombies and Villagers and make a new armor design for their skinnier models.
010
UnknownPlayer @jcss0n.bsky.social · 11/02/2026
Jeb, I know it must be annoying being the easiest current channel of communication since the other devs aren’t as active but I hope you pass this along to Jappa and the art team because these designs still needs a LOT of work. Here are some older fan made baby redesigns that are very faithful. 4/4

UnknownPlayer @jcss0n.bsky.social · 11/02/2026
The new Baby Piglin looks the best out of the bunch since it actually has a reduced head size. However the Baby Zombified Piglin looks like an unfinished draft. The eye socket is inconsistent with the adult and leaves a wide blank space on the skull. A nostril is on the side of the snout too. 3/?

UnknownPlayer @jcss0n.bsky.social · 11/02/2026
The villager looks especially bad because the nose and head just feels cut off. The nose not extending past the chin is a big contributor to why the head looks wrong. Again this can easily be solved by making the heads 6x6. 2/?

UnknownPlayer @jcss0n.bsky.social · 11/02/2026
@jebox.bsky.social Jappa hasn’t been active on BSky so I feel I have to pass this through you. The baby zombie and villager designs does not work at all with the original head design and size. I think their heads needs to be made 6x6 pixels and for the new armor to be reworked or scrapped. 1/?

UnknownPlayer @jcss0n.bsky.social · 11/02/2026
This is the eye issue.
000
UnknownPlayer @jcss0n.bsky.social · 11/02/2026
The Baby Villager just looks like they have their chin and nose cut off. The adult head designs being reused has to fully go, it’s just really bad on the new bodies.
000
UnknownPlayer @jcss0n.bsky.social · 11/02/2026
The baby Piglins are okay, but the ears either needs to be a bit higher up or shorter. The eye socket for the Baby Zombified Piglin should be moved to the right(theirs) a bit since there is a wide blank space on the skull with the current positioning.
200
UnknownPlayer @jcss0n.bsky.social · 11/02/2026
The armor design also looks pretty bad. The 3 wide nose guard thing covers the eyes in a weird way that makes a very unflattering look when put on a mob head.
200
UnknownPlayer @jcss0n.bsky.social · 11/02/2026
@sarahboev.bsky.social The baby hostile mob designs are not not it. The attempt to preserve the original head design only hurt the redesigns, I think a whole new smaller 6x6 head should be better for both the Zombies and the Villager.

What about new structures and new or expansions to existing block pallets? Last year there were no structures and only Copper got an expansion as a block pallet. It still feels like a deliberate choice not to do any of those since every year prior to 2025 had at least 1 new structure and 1 biome.
020
UnknownPlayer @jcss0n.bsky.social · 08/02/2026
@jebox.bsky.social Last year’s set of drops have completely lacked any new biomes, structures and fully new block sets and pallets. Is there is a reason why that is the case?

Anvil cap is not about giving incentives to mine, repairing items requires mining for ores. It’s about giving incentive to use the enchanting system over and over again.

UnknownPlayer @jcss0n.bsky.social · 05/02/2026
Mending has upended that philosophy for years now. The anvil cap feels like just an excuse to force the continued use of the RNG trash enchantment table. If players are doing so much to use circumventions to the enchanting and repair system, maybe the system should be reworked.

Then I sincerely hope that the team is going to address it as soon as possible and make it a continuous effort. These problems have been building up for a long time now, longer than the big update era even.
020
UnknownPlayer @jcss0n.bsky.social · 02/02/2026
Jeb, I just want you to have a think about the core of the complaints and hopefully keep them in mind. I brought all this to you since those vocal critics assume the developers are all faceless stooges and won’t be very polite if they came here, as they think you’re the root of all the issues. 13/13
170
UnknownPlayer @jcss0n.bsky.social · 02/02/2026
In summary: The common community complaints in recent years can be boiled down to two issues: Lack of revamps to outdated areas and isolated feature islands. These are just my two cents and just delivering some common critiques people have been giving out less than politely for a while now. 12/13
151
UnknownPlayer @jcss0n.bsky.social · 02/02/2026
I think simply going back to these sorts of items more often and tying some of them together or with other features in the game, or expanding them in some way will go a long way to make the game more cohesive without the need to make a gigantic grandiose update. 11/?
140
UnknownPlayer @jcss0n.bsky.social · 02/02/2026
The list is long but even in the big update era people have criticized stuff like the Conduit, Turtle Helmet, Amethyst, Copper(at the time), and Echo Shards that only have singular or a handful of uses and connections to other items or features. 10/?
140
UnknownPlayer @jcss0n.bsky.social · 02/02/2026
Another problem a less vocal group of players have been speaking out about is that there has been a long pattern of simply stacking new content on top of the existing game that only functions inside it’s own “feature island” rather than meaningfully connecting to existing features. 9/?

UnknownPlayer @jcss0n.bsky.social · 02/02/2026
Looking back at the past 5 drops, the ones I see people praising the most are the changes to existing features like saddles and name tags being craftable, Horses swimming with a rider, and the return of a mob vote loser the Copper Golem. The former 3 addressed outdated aspects of the game. 8/?
150
UnknownPlayer @jcss0n.bsky.social · 02/02/2026
I think this can be done within the drop format, in fact this is what I personally was hoping for when the drop system was announced. Big updates were hyper focused and only release annually, so there are blind spots that they can’t address. 7/?
160
UnknownPlayer @jcss0n.bsky.social · 02/02/2026
Not saying those are bad, it’s just that they are purely new additions are polished, but aren’t adding that polish to old areas of the game that really needs it. Adding more content isn’t going to help with this gripe some players have, what needs to change is the focus back to revamping things. 6/?
160
UnknownPlayer @jcss0n.bsky.social · 02/02/2026
Changing areas that people interact with commonly like the Nether, Caves or Oceans have a more significant impact on the game than loosely adding a bunch of content across obscure corners of the game like the rare Ancient City or the feature dense Trial Chambers. 5/?
150
UnknownPlayer @jcss0n.bsky.social · 02/02/2026
1.20 to last year’s 4 drops combined technically deliver the same amount of content as 1.16 or 1.17+18, but the focus of those additions are drastically different. 4/?
140
UnknownPlayer @jcss0n.bsky.social · 02/02/2026
The detractors to the drop system don’t know how to articulate it, but what they miss is seeing the game revamping and modernizing itself by giving areas like the ocean, villages, Nether, and caves a facelift. How much content an update adds doesn’t equal to the impact it has on the game. 3/?
150
UnknownPlayer @jcss0n.bsky.social · 02/02/2026
The issue is that the drops are just a continuation of the post 1.19 direction of updates, which all focuses on just piling on isolated pockets of content into the game rather than revamping old areas of the game to modernize or improve them like the 1-13-1.18 era updates. 2/?
161
UnknownPlayer @jcss0n.bsky.social · 02/02/2026
@jebox.bsky.social A lot of the players who joined or returned to the game due to the big update era has been alienated for a while now and the drops generally have not really addressed that. I know that you hear a lot of people wanting more content but imo I don’t think that’s the issue. 1/?
140
UnknownPlayer @jcss0n.bsky.social · 28/01/2026
I appreciate your acknowledgment of the issue, Jeb. I hope you are able to bring this up with people at Mojang about being transparent and honest about future decisions regarding scrapping features or rejecting certain community suggestions.

These explanations we the community are given feel patronizing. It’s as if we are seen as children who can’t understand the real reasons, so we get easy to understand but false explanations like some parents explaining where babies comes from to their 6 year old.
