The Indian grocery near me carries a couple of brands of what are basically repackaged-for-civilians Indian Army MREs that you can reheat in a pot of boiling water that are vegetarian, healthy, moderately spicy and pretty good. $3 a meal if you can boil water and steam rice. Weeknight godsends

Even non-blue collar jobs can take more of a toll than they used to. A lot of new buildings are built with concrete floors to save $$, and retail and restaurant jobs can go from tiring to backbreaking in very short order.

I see this with NBA and NFL Twitter. A lot of the African American NBA power posters acknowledge that its worse, but their built-in audiences are too large and so they either tolerate it or in the case of someone like Jemele Hill spend an inordinate amount of time fending off bigots.

A friend of my mom's was a contract writer for a couple of children's series and there were strict, explicit formulas they had to follow - they received outlines with every plot beat detailed, chapter-by-chapter, and their job was to flesh them out into a working book

A good friend of my mother's was contracted many years ago to write for one of the YA Horror series that were attempts to knock off the Goosebumps phenonmenon, and the incredibly specific outlines they sent for how every bit of the plot should progress was basically a precursor to LLMs doing them

Honestly we need them to unlearn the idea that it worked in 2024. Trump did not win on this issue, it's just something he happened to press in an election that he won for other reasons. Every other election that the right has tried to frame around trans issues has resulted in their defeat.

Funny thing about this is that the wine industry often talks itself into heavily pushing riper, richer wines because they're less subtle and have "mass appeal", but my experience is that when I present people with well made old world wines, they're often more drawn to them.

The consensus among party/media elites was that Republicans didn't want to catch the proverbial car and overturn Roe, instead they wanted it as a wedge issue, so it was treated as Kayfabe and not a serious threat until it was way too late
