More data center work! I'm in Japan at a 公開市民フォーラム (public citizen's forum) bringing together data center protestors from 8 regions around Tokyo. There are also professors, experts, and other speakers. The press is here as well.

A large conference room at a University about half full with attendees. Around 150 participants are present.

Here's the post of the high-vis union tradespeople Salem Indivisible posted. I mean, these guys were intentionally very visible, but it's easy to misinterpret what their presence means.

The DSA goes hard on "working-class" and union member as core to their identity and the tradespeople in their high-vis vests are quite visible in some of the photos they posted of the event. These are a couple of examples.

A few days ago I said a couple of things about data centers and noted the burgeoning resistance movement. I did end up going to the Salem city council meeting where data centers were discussed, got a seat in the basement overflow area and … I have a few observations...<a thread>
