I never had a mixing mentor per say (...although that would be awesome) but I have been also very lucky to have gotten some super detailed/thorough mix feedback at a couple points in my career, and that has been incredibly helpful to have someone who's an expert show you where to focus

maybe both 🤔I always think that improving my sound design skills was a big contributor as well, lots of crossover in paying attention to frequency spectrum, transients, etc. Like it helped me develop more of an ear for details i guess. you??

so cool! ecoacoustics seems really fascinating - I'm doing audio on game that has a lot of fish/underwater creatures and did a deep dive into fish sounds recently. Found a study that focused on the amount of sounds a school of fish makes changes depending on environmental audio factors

my favorite part of the mixing stage is when you think you're almost done but then your cleaned up mix reveals more mistakes and you need to go re-bounce stems to replace an entire section

I'm also like this!! All I need is like 10-15 min around second-hand smoke and my throat starts swelling. What's especially sad is like, at events like CSD or dyke march where I have to keep removing myself from people who decide to sit directly next to me and smoke
