We call on the Welsh Government to allocate and ring-fence the £500m in consequential funding from English SEND spending directly to local authorities and schools for Additional Learning Needs (ALN). While not legally bound to the same portfolio, this funding exists because of systemic education pressures that do not stop at the border. Ahead of the supplementary budget, this money must go straight to the frontline to support Wales’ most vulnerable learners and stabilise our schools.
