I'll focus on the good things I've seen so far: - A very deliberate focus on vocabulary and higher tier technical language in creative subjects. - Excellent use of MWBs to gather ideas and then that informed the direction of the discussion in social sciences.

Not much #MathsToday but managed to visit some other A Level lessons as part of my role as a Lead Practitioner within my Sixth Form College, looking for excellent practice to spotlight. Managed to see History, Sociology, Film Studies and Art today. More tomorrow and Friday!

I teach AQA and I never go down the "square both sides" route. I don't even give it as an option. Sketch, identify where the points of intersection are, then solve the appropriate equations based on whether it's the "positive arm" or the "negative arm" that is intersecting.

Lovely day of #ALevelMaths in #MathsToday, introducing the reciprocal trig functions to my Y2 classes as well as the accompanying Pythagorean identities. Always enjoy the opportunity to make the class cringe with "The one with a tan is sexy" and "The one in the cot is cosy".

..according to the usual order of operations. With multiple transformations in the x-axis you do them in the opposite order to what you would expect. y-axis = BIDMAS, x-axis = SAMDIB if you like. It's not very technical but it seems to stick with the students.

I've always explained that for a single transformation in the y-axis, the transformation is "as you would expect" and in the x-axis it's "the opposite to what you would expect" e.g f(2x) is a stretch SF 1/2. So with multiple transformations in the same y-axis you do them in the order you'd expect..

In #MathsToday my #ALevelMaths Y2 students did some work on combined transformations of functions. We have the first assessment of the year coming up on Thursday and then starting Trigonometry next week! Solid start to the year from both classes, expectations are high for this cohort.

That's what I assumed it was, which is why players are delaying picking up the ball. Also the "no towels" rule is pointless if the Sunderland ball boys are going to dry the ball anyway.

Regis Le Bris, "I didn't see the penalty action". Every time a decision was made he ran to a little screen on his bench to watch it immediately. There is absolutely no chance that he hasn't watched it at least 10 times.
