Laravel VPS is a new server provider in Forge, that's easy to get started with and provides instantly available servers. From zero to deployed in a minute.

We previously looked into this but an IPv6 only server isn’t useful. Most services still don’t accept only IPv6, which means you can’t do a great deal.

We're similar in design (based on Laravel's design language) but we share no code. We're using Vue, while Cloud uses React for example.

We've been working on this set of updates for just over a year now. There's been a lot of work involved!

I think you're confused with the OSS team lead. Now *he* is a looker!

The new API is cool, the command palette has even more features I could show and we’ve completely revamped domains.

James Brooks @jbrooks.uk · 06/08/2025
It's all hand-rolled, so we're able to deeply integrate it within Forge!
010
James Brooks @jbrooks.uk · 06/08/2025
Yes, but Forge won't have that initially. It's a big change within Forge as a site belongs to one server currently. It's on our roadmap though!

Ah-ha! You and me both, I'd be out of a job 😂

Hetzner is cheaper, but Laravel VPS is built on DigitalOcean, so we provide more regions etc.

Yes! Introducing organizations means a lot of things have changed. As such, we’ll also be releasing a new API. It’s built to be performant, it’s paginated, it’s JSON API spec compliant and has new documentation to go with it.

Something we didn't show in the Laracon US keynote is that Forge now keeps a log of when you run recipes. Now, you can see when and what servers a recipe was run on.

I am incredibly proud of the Forge team and all their hard work! Unfortunately, some of the team were unable to join us at Laracon but all played a huge part in making Forge more awesome. Incredible work 👏

There’s no two ways about it; Nightwatch is a game-changer 🦸🏻‍♂️ We’ve been using it on Forge for several months, and it immediately found itself as a critical piece of our developer tooling. We hope you enjoy using it as much as we do!

Honestly, the team have been killing it on Forge. I can’t wait to show you all what we’ve been doing 🙌

James Brooks @jbrooks.uk · 31/05/2025
The way we're doing this is that each Action class has a `handle` method. We use DI to inject the class at a controller level. The `handle` method is essentially grouping logic together in one place. For example, installing a database needs to set state, dispatch a job and broadcast an event.

James Brooks @jbrooks.uk · 31/05/2025
For the Forge update, we've adopted the Action pattern and it's been incredibly productive for us, allowing us to efficiently refactor old code as we go. Previously, Forge had a massive class of methods (split into traits) that was unwieldily and much harder to test.

James Brooks @jbrooks.uk · 30/05/2025
Also, we’re using Typescript heavily which with a few super secret internal tools, has been an absolute dream to work with 👀

James Brooks @jbrooks.uk · 30/05/2025
When we began working on the big Laravel Forge update we teased recently, we had the chance to switch from Vue to React. We stuck with Vue. Our team is very comfortable with Vue 3’s composition API and Inertia 2. But React’s ecosystem, I hear you shouting… we’ve never felt like we’re missing out!

Postgres and MySQL. SQLite isn't currently supported (it works, but it's ephemeral storage so you'll lose the DB).

Enhance Laravel’s rate limiting by using Cloudflare’s Web Application Firewall (WAF) to block excessive requests at the edge, reducing server load and improving API performance.
