Dark Souls 2 got a seamless co-op mod. My favorite Souls game, my favorite action RPG, and one of my favorite games in general So it's wonderful to see it get the same love with this mod as DS3 and ER have received

Replaying Enotria: The Last Song and I'm still stunned by how beautiful this first area is. The city being caught in an eternal sunset, the way it casts shadows through the buildings. I also remember being really struck by how good the beachside area looked. Excited to get back to that area.

There is a sub-genre of RPGs/Sims where you function more as a party manager than an active participant in the moment-to-moment combat and decision maker. Heroland, FFCC My Life as King, Dragon Ruins, and the much-maligned Various Daylife. I love this style of game.

Another way to look at the Microsoft/Sony stuff is; these companies want to be digital landlords. No desire to create, no desire to add value. They want to sit there and act as middlemen, extracting wealth from others peoples work. All they want to do is leech money off of every kid buying vbux.

I finally realized that Sage is so much fun to play because you don't just have to know mechanics to be good. You have to know how people are going to do those mechanics wrong. Being able to minimize the screw ups of the goblins/lazy players in roulette can be really satisfying.

Early thoughts on Sinking City 2 after playing the stand-alone investigation and a little of the main story. Pretty great! Solid art direction, good pacing, and inoffensive combat. The MC is really likeable as well, effortlessly funny, which goes a long way for me.

It's kind of interesting how the mainline SMT games aren't really in the conversation when it comes to blobbers. Disregarding 3 and 5 for their perspective shift, anyway. Strange Journey is one of the best blobbers I've ever played and SMTIV is right up there with it. Soul Hackers is also amazing.

To my own shame, I don't play too many romhacks. But I finally got my AYN Thor up and running and I've been playing Super Mariomon and EarthBound Beginnings. The level of care that went into both these projects is so apparent. They're both super good and I totally recommend both!

I really hope I'm ultimately wrong but I dread what's coming in FFXIV 8.0. Everything they're showing and saying reads like a they are shifting focus to entice mobile gamers. Doubling down on creating FOMO in their audience. Multiple pieces of content are just going to be ads. It bums me out.

Oh! I also was sent Fantasian Neo Dimension by a friend and it is STELLAR. Very inspired by the PS1 era RPGs but with some unique features. There is a great gimmick that lets you "stock" random battles and then do them all at once, with most attacks doing AOEs to facilitate this.

Games that have a projectile weapon (like a crossbow or sawblade tosser) where you have to work around the projectile having a drifting trajectory are underrated. Actually love doing a little physics puzzles every combat encounter, makes it much more engaging.

The "I don't buy physical so I don't care" crowd will only care when their digital libraries start disappearing. And here's the thing, Sony will keep capriciously changing their TOS to do that. They want a captured audience who will re-purchase everything every few years. That is their goal.

My Razer Nommo v2 speakers were being a little weird so I tried to install their software to see if there was a firmware update or something. There are a half dozen apps to control a pair of speakers, they all have universally awful UI designs, and none of them have a clear way to check firmware.

I don't know what kind of licensing issues there are but Level-5 should really push to rerelease the Dark Cloud and Yo-Kai Watch series on as many consoles as they can. Rogue Galaxy too. It was less popular than some of their other games but I'd really like to play White Knight Chronicles again too

It bums me out I can't even be a little excited for the Monster Hunter Wilds expansion. The game is such a failed experiment. And I'm not even speaking to its technical issues. The changes to base mechanics and systems in the game is unfixable as it stands. Just adding more stuff won't help.
