Still wishing they would have tagged him. I think it would have allowed them to take Brady Frazier instead of Gadsden in the 5th. I'd feel much better about the interior of the OL this year and moving forward.

Does Vancouver even have enough roster spots available for them?

Is that accounting for draft pick salaries and the in season budget?

Isn't what the tag does? There's no negotiating. I don't think anyone will give him more than that, but now they might have to place bids.

I get that saving money is a good thing, but at this point, what is the difference? They aren't going to get close to the cap without making some bad deals. Maybe you make them at more important positions, but this team doesn't have a pass catching TE right now.

Sure, but I think that's the going rate for a WR of his quality. You have to overpay a little to get any FA and they have money. I really hope their method going forward isn't to have a hard number and then finish 2nd or 3rd for every quality FA.

I don't understand what the Chargers are doing? I get they might not have wanted to sign a top of the market guy. But the mid-market guys are going, too. There's plenty of room to fix the OL and still sign Slayton.

This is a little insulting. It's like when Americans say "If our best athletes, like LeBron, played soccer, then we'd be the best at it." If our best middle school basketball players played baseball, they'd win the World Series.

Even with a salary cap having to come up with large sums of cash up front is harder for the smaller teams. The luxury tax won't affect the big market teams like the Dodgers who are going to spend a ton anyway. It will only hurt mid-level teams, who wouldn't be able to defer salary to avoid it.

Jb410s @jbrenner15.bsky.social · 18/01/2025
Why do you think that will help smaller clubs? The big clubs probably have much more cash on hand. Small clubs may need deferrals to make competitive offers. The NFL makes teams put every $ guaranteed to players in an escrow account. This really hurts smaller clubs in FA.

Also, he didn't sign for much money. Any team could have gotten him. The Dodgers just have a better record of winning and development than most teams.

Real wages have gone up since the pandemic and gone up the fastest on the lowest parts of the wage scale. If that's a problem with today's economy, it was worse for basically anyone under 50s lifetime.

Also, it seems like the offense is just smoother. The success rate has to be higher with him in there. The runs seem like they go for 3-4 instead of 0-2 every rush.

I disagree with you about team success, but I find it funny that for the last four years Bengals fans argued Burrow was better than Herbert because he just knew how to win. Meanwhile, Burrow has had to deal with a Chargers like defense for the first time and won't make the playoffs, either.

It's the Pats, but so far Salyer looks better than Pipkins. The Chargers are having a high success rate like they did against Tenn when Salyer was in, too. Those have been my two favorite offensive performances so far this year.

If the person thought about it for even a second, it couldn't be possible to be real. Granted, everyone has a skewed sample, but 1/5 of the people the poster knows would be homeless. I can't imagine that's even close to the case.

Chargers started using Tart instead of Oboigna and moved Derwin James closer to the LOS after the first few drives. The run wasn't effective after that.

Came here to say this. Batteries are very expensive and they are heavy. You have to have better breaks, shocks, etc. Those are all more expensive. Additionally, people who can't afford higher priced cars might not have ease of charging that people with single family homes and garages have.

I'd also imagine whoever cooks/stocks the groceries for them doesn't store apples in the refrigerator, either. That means he hasn't had an apple in so long that he forgot they aren't cold when you eat one.

The obvious inference is that Trump has never been to a grocery store. It's also entirely possible that Trump has never eaten an apple because he would know they aren't cold when you eat them.

His main condition for taking the job was having his son succeed him when he left. Literally, he already has a plant for exiting.

28 to 30 depending on how you count things. I don't count airports. I have spent about 48 hours in one city (combined) but have never slept there. Another city I drove through, and did stop for dinner, but that's it.

Probably not, but you never know. Like if we try to move him and/or Gibson, that's 2 retention spots taken up. A cheaper contract may not require retention to get a solid piece back.

Not sure if anyone follows baseball, but this reminds me of the Angels trading for Vernon Wells. Old and over the hill, with a lot of money still on the contact. Angels should have been paid to take on that contract. Instead they gave up Napoli.

I'm newer to advanced stats so I have a question. With samples of that size does opponent matter or is that factored in? Like playing 8 out of 40 minutes against McDavid and 5 against McKinnon could lead to a lower percentage than just playing average lines over that time.

It's more the earned media from those events that was produced. If your theory is that only people in the stadiums are influenced and those numbers are small enough to not matter, then why bother campaigning anywhere at all?

I think Thursday night games show the NFL doesn't care about safety. But I don't think flexing a game to Thursday, a month out, is any worse than scheduling games on Thursday in the first place. Fan convenience, sure. That sucks for the fans who have to travel.

Great read. Disagree with some of them. Chargers defense is playing great, but so is Herbert. His best receivers are Ladd and something called Will Dissley. The run game has a dismal success rate. Has anyone ever gotten a team to the playoffs with as bad an offensive team and a bad Def?

I don't agree with it, but if Trevor Lawrence is actually bad, that job is worse. You are stuck with him for a lot more years than the Jets are saddled with Rodgers. You probably don't make it to the end of that contract. At least with the Jets you can blame Rodgers and get a few years after that.

No GM job is that bad! You make a lot money and it's an entertainment product. Teams make money no matter how badly you do. That being said, which GM jobs do you think are worse? Relative to other GM jobs, this one seems bottom 10 pretty easily. Bad owner, high pressure, no future QB on the roster.

Plus, no matter how good you are, you are most likely stuck with the third best QB in the division and maybe the 4th best coach. It will be tough to succeed.
