Hi, AI researcher here who generally agrees that LLM chatbots and image generators are stupid. But even with that, there are a lot of good applications in problems with intractable search spaces. Drug discovery, software testing and debugging, basically anything with high computational complexity.

Grok running outside of X is definitely using a different system prompt. On its own, it’s a decent model (though Claude still tends to perform better on real world tasks). But the version on X appears to be a rat’s nest of system prompts to make it pro Elon and anti woke.

General comment on Traeger recipes, I’ve found a lot of them recommend too low of temps. For example, I like to do the 3-2-1 ribs recipe about 25 degrees hotter than what the recipe says, in order to get the right tenderness.

Serious AI companies take extreme care to prevent their models from training on their own outputs. The result is “model collapse” where the attention mechanism breaks down, and hallucinations skyrocket. But of course Apartheid Clyde hasn’t bothered to read any actual training research.
