I was doing it as a defense, to show these VPs why my team was unable to meet their needs. I had to bring evidence, and it worked (mostly). Then not long after I left for a better job.

I was having to micromanage my old team, and I know they didn't like it, but I had a directive to explain to four different VPs why their needs weren't being met, and the only way to do that was reliable time tracking data. The team was being heavily scrutinized.

Breaking Bad being #1 but Better Call Saul being #27 invalidates this entire list for me. Revisits of Breaking Bad have exposed some of its flaws to me, while Better Call Saul is the product of a team that learned and grew from its experience with Breaking Bad.

I was never a fan, but boy did she do a lot of good in life and was a genuinely nice person. My state (Missouri) cut funding to and halted enrollment in her Imagination Library just a few months ago. So hateful.

I can attest to my own comments not saving, and to this issue becoming more common. If I write a kinda lengthy comment, I always copy the text before I post and then verify more than a couple times to be sure it saved before I move on with my life and go touch some grass or whatever.

Social Security and Medicare are separate funds and are (currently) solvent, though the government has borrowed from Social Security before to pay for other things (which is highly unethical), since the trust fund continues to hold a surplus.

After over 20 years in software engineering, I crashed and chose early retirement (a very privileged position to be in). I sure hope here in the US we can keep this collective bargaining movement going. The capital-owning class has had it too good for too long here.

We HAVE TO STOP this view that to motivate someone, you have to threaten them with starvation or homelessness. Absolutely inhumane. Every human on this planet deserves food, water, clothing, shelter, health care, and an education. That's how you build a lasting social order.

I have had trouble enjoying DS9 myself. I just watch TNG reruns from seasons 1-4 (select episodes from each) and don't revisit much of the later seasons, and the TNG movies were really not that good. I remember wanting desperately to like them, but upon reflection I've soured on them all.

As an angry man who is also a victim of SA, I am angry at the other angry men who are angry for all the wrong reasons and make all the wrong decisions due to their anger. I'm also just really exhausted. The collective mental wellbeing of this country is in such disarray.

I'm so exhausted by "it is what it is". Certain interests LOVE that these climate trends are slow relative to human generations (while hyper-rapid in geological scale), because they can then stall meaningful positive change just long enough to convince a social order of the "new normal".

That phrase "reckless and unsettling" from the NYT article should have led any reputable journalist to ask follow-up questions, to pry further into the incident. But it was hand-waved away while focus was given to discrediting the other accuser because she was a Republican.

Those aren't mutually exclusive views to hold. You can be critical, even negative, about someone to some degree and still support them. For example, supporting Platner while also criticizing the Nazi tattoo, or his "womanizing", or his thirst for combat, etc...
