Happy Kotohime day! Here's a decal I made for my two favorite PC98 characters. I like to think they're sisters. #東方Project

A simple decal of the Touhou: Puppet Dance Performance artwork for Meira, from Touhou 2 ~ Story of Eastern Wonderland, and Kotohime from Touhou 3 ~ Phantasmagoria of Dim. Dream. The two are standing back to back and each are given a flat color based on their hair color. The kanji used to write their names are overlayed on top of them and the kanji used for the japanese subtitles of their games of origin are in the corners. The background of the circle features a gradient adapted from the title screen of Touhou 2, and the star sprites used in Touhou 3.

When you befriend Marisa, she teaches you a recipe. 'Secret Savory Mushroom Hotpot'. A recipe she eats often. And then much later, in DLC5, the last recipe that Mima gives you is 'Two-Flavor Beef Hotpot', which she would make for Marisa whenever she came back upset or hurt.

Alright, alright, alright. Mima. The fabled Mima-sama. I've talked about Mima before, in a previous set of posts. I LOVE Mima. I think Mima is probably the most interesting character in all of PC98, and I'm not alone in that. The amount of people who want Mima back is a testament to that.

Kirisame Marisa. She didn't look like this in Touhou 2 but who cares. What is there to say about Marisa? I mean, you know, she's only the second most important character in the whole series. But I love how Marisa is introduced in Touhou 2, as an enemy, being the subordinate to 'Mima-sama'.

Up next, is Meira. I actually really like Meira. I think she's a funny character. There's a bit of Schezo Wegey vibe going on here with how she 'craves the hakurei power'. I always thought that, given the plot of TH2, that felt like a very fake line. Like she's just saying what Mima told her to say.

Fuck it, it's my day off. We're starting Touhou 2 now. I love Genjii. I'm serious. I wish he had stayed relevant. I wish he continued to talk. I think he has a great personality to contrast baby reimu, and love how he 'secretly' works with Mima in TH2 to help make Reimu stronger.

And then lastly for TH1, we have Konngara. Now, unlike Sariel, Konngara I have a very strong personal interpretation of that fell in love with. But before that, I think it's very cool that Konngara has that aura of a final boss, like Sariel, where I feel many Touhou final bosses sort of don't.

Sariel. Oh, man, oh man. I wish I liked Sariel more than I do. There are so many interesting things you could do with the idea of an angel of death, created by Shinki, as a resident of Makai. Even more if you decide that Sariel wasn't created by Shinki. But I just end up with choice paralysis.

Elis! Elis is Alice's least favorite big sister. She probably doesn't even know Elis exists. I like her because she's technically a Makai resident, and therefore a daughter of Shinki. I personally don't agree with it, but I see a lot of people using Elis to say the Scarlet Sisters came from Makai.

I recognized when starting this thread that I'm going to have to write about some real Nothing characters if I'm doing the pc98 characters. But make no mistake. I do in fact have something I like about Shingyoku! I think Shingyoku is interesting and has some potential for fanworks.

Obviously I have to start with Genesis-Era Reimu. This was the Reimu that appeared from Reimu the Touhou 1 to Reimu the Touhou 5 & Knuckles. There's actually a lot I have to say about the unique way that Reimu changes a lot from her baby form in the PC98 games, to the modern one we have today.
