Sure, it is outrageous that the medal had to be used in such a way. But quite honestly, I'm more outraged at Trump for forcing her hand like that, than at her for appeasing him in that manner. In the end, the Nobel prize is cheap metal if it gets her a shot at realising her vision for Vzla.

It only made evident what already was a precarious situation. Fact is... Venezuela is currently at the mercy of Trump. And she had very little leverage to exert on him. Personally, I reckon the medal was only to sweeten the deal, for whatever other offer she had in mind.

Yet she still remains that same fearsome woman at her core. With an iron will in pursuit of the Vzla of her dreams. She's ultimately a dreamer at heart. And in an ideal world, she would've never had to associate herself with people such as Trump.

As time went by, she learned pragmatism. She learned that sometimes she needed to ally herself with awful people in order to do something good. Her unrelenting pursuit of her vision for Vzla has made her change and adapt. Because reality is never ideal. And I admire her for that.

She has always been a very idealistic woman. Uncompromising on her beliefs. Incorruptible. Which hasn't always won her many friends when it comes to politics (a realm ripe with very such corruption). Early on, that meant she was fairly irrelevant politically (sadly).

Ring-Wingers have been the only people that have offered more than just vacuous words of support to her cause. Left-wingers had always aligned themselves with Maduro instead. Democracy be damned. The fact that many of those ring-wingers are devils is inconsequential, for the sake of the goal.

Jay Kozatt @jaykozatt.bsky.social · 17/01/2026
Clearly you've not been following her career long enough. Yes, her ideals are way more right-wing leaning. And yes, she has aligned herself with some pretty shitty people. But that hasn't quite been by choice, but pragmatism.

It pisses me off that nobody outside understands that even though Maduro fell, we're not free yet. His whole regime still stands. And we're at the mercy of both the regime, and the man-child at the White House. What else could she have done when the man with all the power is that petty?

Jay Kozatt @jaykozatt.bsky.social · 17/01/2026
Personally, I do not think any lesser of Machado for doing this. She has shown, time and time again, that she's willing to do whatever she deems necessary to achieve Vzla's freedom. All that moral outrage for a prize that isn't really worth anything. If it gets Vzla it's freedom, I'm with her.

The fact that Trump is such a man-baby, that "having" the medal is enough to get him to have a better opinion of her... is such a humilliation for me. That child is such a narcissist, that he's happy receiving a medal he didn't earn. He forced her hand, by keeping us hostage, for a puny medal.

Jay Kozatt @jaykozatt.bsky.social · 05/01/2026
No amount of idealism or wishful thinking could have ever taken him down. The world will struggle to understand why this was necessary. Because you all just see today. You're not seeing everything that came before. And here, that's key.

Maduro only knew strength. That was his language. That was the only thing he would ever listen to. And even as the barrel of the gun was lined up against his head, he still tried to weasel out. He offered false promises, oil, minerals... Might as well offered his mother. Anything to earn time.

Jay Kozatt @jaykozatt.bsky.social · 05/01/2026
In their dream world, everyone always told us to talk things through. To sit at a table and come to an agreement. But these folks were not men. They were beasts. They reneged on every promise. They tortured and extorted, then laughed as they humiliated you. They could not be reasoned with.
100
Jay Kozatt @jaykozatt.bsky.social · 05/01/2026
Yeah... We would have totally preferred that. Believe me, we tried. Every other no violent method was tried. Elections, negotiations, concessions, sanctions, coersion. Everything in the diplomat's playbook was tried. Maduro laughed and danced in the face of all that. So this was the last choice.

Our oil was already getting stolen by Maduro's regime. They were taking our wealth, and leaving us misery. I much rather take our chances with the propect of change than the certainty of death. Our country was already finished before Trump acted.

I assure you, I'm not trolling. And yeah, I understand we are under occupation. In fact, we have been for quite some time. It is just a new master. It might seem foreign to you. But to us, that thought is not as alarming right now. We live one day at a time. In that way, this is just "Tuesday".
000
Jay Kozatt @jaykozatt.bsky.social · 03/01/2026
Yeah, and I get where you're coming from. From outside, I'd be normally super iffy about this event for sure. I've never been a supporter of Trump's nonsense in the past. So I understand the huge concern from international law. But, you know... I'm just happy, dude. It's been my whole life.

Jay Kozatt @jaykozatt.bsky.social · 03/01/2026
Action that would have certainly compromised the operation's secrecy and security. Again, I'm not a jurist here. They can argue all they want in courts. But this needed to happen. We Venezuelans needed it to happen. So I'm not gonna complain. It's on us now, to stabilise the country afterwards.
100
Jay Kozatt @jaykozatt.bsky.social · 03/01/2026
But then again, I'm no jurist. And you likely aren't one either. So this isn't for us to discuss.
000
Jay Kozatt @jaykozatt.bsky.social · 03/01/2026
Keyword there: president Which implies a certain legitimacy. Personally, I think it could be legally argued that Maduro was no longer Venezuela's president. And Venezuela's legitimately elected president, Gonzalez Urrutia, gave the operation his blessing. So it wasn't an invasion either.
200
Jay Kozatt @jaykozatt.bsky.social · 03/01/2026
Was it illegal though? I dunno, that will be for the courts to decide. By all accounts, Maduro demonstrably lost the last election, so he no longer was a head of state. He was merely a criminal usurping power. And a terrorist, as is getting proven on New York's courts.
100
Jay Kozatt @jaykozatt.bsky.social · 03/01/2026
Clearly you haven't had him in power long enough. Once you've done everything in your power and humanly possible to expel him, on multiple instances, and over more than a decade, with your people living in misery... You might just quietly wish that either angels or demons just spirited him away.
100
Jay Kozatt @jaykozatt.bsky.social · 03/01/2026
I'm just parodying you, tbh. From where I'm standing (in Venezuela), the remaining Maduro regime is calling it a kidnapping on state-controlled media. So from my perspective, you'd be the one parroting Venezuelan regime rhetoric, which I just find mildly hilarious.
100
Jay Kozatt @jaykozatt.bsky.social · 03/01/2026
Venezuela has a right to an elected leader. But Maduro didn't care for that either. Sad that we needed to have the US come in, to make him understand that he couldn't just sit on that chair unelected with impunity.
110
Jay Kozatt @jaykozatt.bsky.social · 03/01/2026
Sure. But Maduro wasn't a head of state anymore? He was an usurper. And narco-terrorist as well. The last Venezuelan election established he was no longer Venezuela's leader. And without the investiture of the Presidency, he was merely a criminal occupying the Presidential chair.
100
Jay Kozatt @jaykozatt.bsky.social · 03/01/2026
*captured. Don't use Venezuelan regime speak.

Jay Kozatt @jaykozatt.bsky.social · 03/01/2026
I will, if the Cuban regime leaves us the fuck alone as well.
000
Jay Kozatt @jaykozatt.bsky.social · 03/01/2026
It had always enraged me that Russia, Iran, and Cuba could do as they liked with impunity in Venezuela to support the regime. But when we, the democratic people of Venezuela, sought US and international support in turn, our cries were deemed as illegal and everyone piled on us because "US bad".

Jay Kozatt @jaykozatt.bsky.social · 03/01/2026
I'm not a Trump supporter. In fact I have been opposing him for quite some time, ever since the assault on Congress on that January. That said... This is the one action of his that I fully endorse. This needed to happen. Venezuela had been powerless to expel Maduro due to foreign power's meddlin

Jay Kozatt @jaykozatt.bsky.social · 03/01/2026
Gosh, you folks didn't have to suffer through all that Maduro's regime ever did. If you had, I assure you wouldn't be decrying this, you'd be celebrating. Everything humanly possible has been done to try to legally justify this action that absolutely needed to be done. But it's never enough for u

I may as well be in your eyes. But you are clearly a political idiot, so your assessment of my beliefs matters very little.

Jay Kozatt @jaykozatt.bsky.social · 03/01/2026
If you are, then you're a disgrace to the thinking, socially conscious left. Maduro was a total disaster for Venezuela. And as a Venezuelan, I welcome his extraction. Nobody who actually cares about the people should ever align themselves with such a brutal regime.

Machado would even make a deal with the devil at her expense, if it meant securing freedom for Venezuela. She's just that selfless and dedicated to the cause.
000
Jay Kozatt @jaykozatt.bsky.social · 11/10/2025
I despise narratives like these that make it seem as if Machado was seeking to overthrow a democratic leader. Maduro *stole* the last election. He's a dictactor with no people's mandate. And it was thanks to Machado that that fact was proven publicly and notoriously.
120
Jay Kozatt @jaykozatt.bsky.social · 11/10/2025
At the end of the day, she's a politician and knows how to play the game. Had Kamala won, she'd have cozied up to her instead. But one is real about Machado, and that is her integrity. Her values are just as strong as her will. And I wouldn't want anybody else representing Venezuela.

Jay Kozatt @jaykozatt.bsky.social · 11/10/2025
Machado fully deserves that prize. We have never been as close to breaking our chains as we are today. And it is all thanks to her. She says she "admires" Trump 'cause she's a pragmatist. She knows that's what works with him. We needed the US' support to achieve our goals and she's getting it.

Was playing Red Ninja: End of Honor for the PS2 and had gotten stuck on the fight with the Armor God. I thought I was nearing the end of the game due to the difficulty and prior length. Looked up a guide to help with the fight. Turns out I'm at the mid point. Dang, PS2 games were something else.

The effect the fed has on the economy whenever it prints money is insidious. You don't feel it all at once. But suddenly, people with more money in their pockets, that was printed, come to buy stuff. The demand for stuff raises since there's more money. So the economy answers by raising prices.
000
Jay Kozatt @jaykozatt.bsky.social · 27/11/2024
Just saw the video. And yeah, while it is true the fed plays by different rules as an isolated entity, they can't just print money consequence free. The military also employs regular citizens who must be paid. So any money printed will still make it to the economy as well. Which raises inflation.
100
Jay Kozatt @jaykozatt.bsky.social · 27/11/2024
No no, I never wanted to imply that taxation was theft. I meant that some governments (broadly speaking) have corrupt officials that steal from the public treasury through various means, which further contributes to the budget deficit. And the deficit is covered through printing.
000
Jay Kozatt @jaykozatt.bsky.social · 27/11/2024
The purpose of reducing expenditures, is to minimise how much money is printed. Because typically governments spend (or steal) more money than what comes in through taxes. Welfare is good and all, but an imbalanced government budget is ultimately bad for everyone in the long run.
200
Jay Kozatt @jaykozatt.bsky.social · 27/11/2024
Any money the government prints and spends eventually makes its way to people's pockets and the economy. But if you don't increase the supply of goods along with it, you end up with a surplus of money all competing for the same goods. This naturally increases inflation.

Anger promotes "engagement". That's why Twitter turned into such a cesspit. Anger makes people "engage", which in turn makes them stay longer on the platform, so that they can watch more ads and make more money for the platform.
