Gosh if only there were folk who could afford to help you pay that off through, I donna know, some kind of tax on enormous wealth they couldn’t possibly ever spend themselves?!

Worcester is taking a real hit - 10% rise. And central gov have just upped the amount they are giving councils so this is an insane positioning from Reform. But we all knew this is what would happen, it’s just what they do. Lie, lie and then lie some more after getting completely out of their depth

AIDS had horrific impacts on our world across the board, but the loss of so many activists that could be intersectional and bring these movements together was a biggie. These kind of collaborations feel incomprehensible nowadays. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lesbian...

I’m sat here in England so excuse me if I’m wrong or I just haven’t got the joke, but aren’t you guys unable to afford eggs and isn’t your president a massive rapist? So maybe not so unique to one city?

I’ve a local biomass energy plant and it’s really sad driving by and seeing all the trees stacked up wondering how many years old they were. Awful business, especially as you have to drive passed a broken on shore wind turbine to get there. theisleofthanetnews.com/2018/10/01/1...

I will never understand why America, which was built on a foundation of dreams being made possible by equality and hard work, now fight so hard to create and reinforce an all American aristocracy! Just put an age limit on your lawmakers and get them to retire.

Wowzer, is that how our House of Lords is viewed by you guys? Brutal. But you know they get £300 a day just for turning up and sitting in the subsidised restaurants; I wish my kids childcare was that generous!

I’m here in England so I know nothing about the Love Boat but I do know Coronation Street has a lovely wedding that included a trans character. Voted the best soap wedding before all the anti trans stuff kicked in www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/ar...

Labour need to remember that people held their noses when voting for them to ensure the Tories were voted out. Thinking they actually won, through one guys competence just means they are going to run with an extinction strategy. If it weren’t so damaging to people it would be fascinating.

Not fully but Cooper has announced a cessation in the number of social care visas and Tice has spouted forth that those who decide not to work shall from here on out be compelled through threat of poverty to be work in the care sector; so Starmer will be aping shortly. God help our elderly parents.

Jax @jaxtainsh.bsky.social · 13/05/2025
And now they are going to force those on benefits to carry out social care, or they’ll lose their benefits - wow; that’s quite the most awful policy ever.

Just wait until they want free quality driven social care. You spent your deposit on Netflix and avocados; they spent their social care on 4 cruises a year. And then championed the loss of visas for qualified social care workers. Hey ho.

It will be interesting; given these policies, the election results and the impeding genocide of Gaza how long they can continue believing they have a mandate. The Tories were voted out, Labour were supported for their call for change - and this is all beyond awful.

Jax @jaxtainsh.bsky.social · 07/05/2025
That is the wildest take on politics I’ve read ever. Do they really think anyone will support them?

Or strategic? As per a cabinet source “If the next election is versus a Farage-Jenrick coalition then we can squeeze the progressive vote very hard. The choice in front of people will be very stark.”

This quote from a cabinet source has really done it for me “If the next election is us versus a Farage-Jenrick coalition then we can squeeze the progressive vote very hard. The choice in front of people will be very stark.” Never voting for these cruel, power hungry, politically inepts again.

I just don’t understand how so many of them can be so completely and utterly politically inept - it’s incomprehensible! And weirdly enough the party is doubling down on X and talking about securing the country rather than supporting the most vulnerable.

As I said, you probably, so not an unsubstantiated leap at all. But you honestly don’t seem to care about the wide spread levels of intimidation and harassment the women of Cheltenham have to put up with each year and how it’s getting worse with pop up brothels and tour buses - they don’t go out.
000
Jax @jaxtainsh.bsky.social · 29/04/2025
That’s the whole point of this discussion. The reporting of Cheltenham compared to Carnival is dramatic. There are no numbers for Cheltenham because it’s just the races, even though women in the area are terrified and targeted www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home...

As stated I so many reports those crimes happened to be within the area not part of carnival. I assume some folk were abused during Cheltenham who were just locals.

Jax @jaxtainsh.bsky.social · 29/04/2025
And you probably bang on about rape gangs yet you won’t take violence against women and sexual exploitation seriously.

‘horse racing Livesey suggests, has visible male-on-male violence, excessive drinking, sexual harassment and violence, alongside wider anti-social behaviour that’s just “going to the races” where normal social rules don’t apply. Cheltenham is not unique, Aintree saw mass brawls and so has Good-wood.
