The philosopher is struck by the idea that love and poetry may arise solely from brain activity. Even if we accept it as fact, it remains difficult to grasp—like the certainty of death, which we neither fully understand nor accept. Perhaps what unsettles us most is self-reflection itself.

Fascinating study! Using fMOST imaging, researchers mapped the long-range wiring of basal forebrain cholinergic neurons — key for attention, learning & plasticity. They revealed precise, putative synapse-level connections to the hippocampus & amygdala. Big step for neurodegeneration research.
